GCT should be proud of her now. Is she the first full time MP from the ruling party?

Yesterday (31 May 2011) marked my last day with Ernst & Young. After long and careful deliberation, I decided to resign from the firm to focus on my responsibilities in MacPherson and Marine Parade GRC. Working as a business consultant has been enriching and meaningful, and I deeply appreciate the confidence and opportunities that the firm has given me over the years.

I have now been on the ground in MacPherson for over two months. MacPherson has a large number of elderly and poorer households. I feel strongly for them. They require and deserve more help and attention, and there is still much that can be done for them. I have decided to spend more time on the ground, to better serve the needs of residents, and to implement my plans for MacPherson.

I will consider my longer-term career plans in the future, but fulfilling my duties to the residents of MacPherson will remain my first and utmost priority.

This sounds very fishy. Anyone from Ernst & Young can spill the beans?

probably would hve resigned n have the resignation fast tracked...

It's not so easy to leave by serving super short notice in a professional services firm. If you have field engagements on your plate, you will have to do handover within that period. This is usually demanded by the managers and the client.

Another reason i can think of is very very low billable hours..... which makes it no different if you are in the company or not.

If she resigned so that she can concentrate on the ground and her work as MP, then I truly wish her well. Her constituency is fortunate to have a full-time MP.

The advantages gained by Sylvia Lim, LTK and CST in working full-time for their constituencies are broken by TPL with this decision. If only more PAP MPs will follow suit, then such actions by the oppositions are nothing to crow about.

It was the man-in-the-air attitude by the PAP that got people riled. The man-on-the-ground breed of PAP may undo some of the damage done by them. Thank you TPL and may more of your style of PAP MP emerge.

Heard that the company will announce staff promotions around 24 June. If she don't get promoted, very malu as she is probably the only MP holding a very junior position in the private sector. If she gets promoted, it becomes a sensitive issue which might affect the firm's reputation and the staff morale as people will be guessing whether it has to do with the MP appointment or back door politics. Her MP appointed should enhance hers and the company's image/reputation/credibility but its going the other way so I guess its better for her to leave.

I would still prefer her to quit her MP job first. Coz I still dun like to pay for her salary. For all u knw it is more lucrative to stay in parliament. The bonus, the pension, most imptly her BACKING!!!Will definitely make her job as a MP much easier and promote faster. This is wayang crap man! If she continues to do this, with no promotion, no publicity, REALLY Serve quietly for the next 20, 30 yrs. Then mayb we can give her a chance!:mad::mad:

To get rid of a stigma on her capability as an Mpee.

Private sector in the "real world" assessed that the individual's capability as that of an associate or senior associate. Liken to senior excutive in any firm.

Therefore, not befitting for one whom (suppposedly)voters deem has the ability to run a constituency.

The assessment of her capability in the real commercial world is a stigma that she wants to get rid of. IMO, business consultant in audit firm is cbl, all solutions for clients still fall on the shoulders of acccountants, tax advisory, technical etc.

Just my guess.

Dear Ms. Tin

Did you pen this by yourself?
or Ms. Hee Hee helped you do it?

Sincerely yours

It's obvious that she's been told that her position as MP is secure.

She's pretty much given the :oIo: to those who lodged a police complaint.

I have to agree she looks bad in all her photos. All highlight her flabby hips, buck teeth, big mouth.. what is the opposite term of 'photogenic"? Photohideous?

On the other hand, she could have developed a conscience and dedicated herself fully towards helping the poor and needy? lol

The main fact is that she is the first PAP MP to do this. How many PAP MPs do you know who resign to serve their constitutency? So if she does a good thing for her constituency, you will look upon her with disfavor? Come five years' time, if she does it well, her constituency residents will look upon her favourably.

As for wayangs, these shows are also put up by the oppositions. It is just that they lost and have no opportunity to do more wayangs.

Now if only more PAP MPs do suit. For every elected GRC, one MP serve full-time. This will go a long way to understanding the ground, far better than reliance on the RCs and other organizations. For example, if Irene Ng serve full-time in Tampines, it would certainly gladden the hearts of many when they see her cycling around the area. Mah Bow Tan, now with a MP job, can also serve full-time. It will be gratifying if he goes around surveying if his policies caused difficulties to anyone. Wong Kan Seng, in a similar boat, can check out the quality of police patrols in the constituency and see if gurkhas may help. I think we can give George Yeo a break. They should have put Khaw Boon Wan in Aljunid instead.

Developed conscience..... then be a social worker and save the nation some money. Dont horde the mp post and give it to more deserving individuals.

On the other hand, she could have developed a conscience and dedicated herself fully towards helping the poor and needy? lol
