There is a risk-averse culture in the SAF owing to the scrutiny that decisions are under in a rigid hierarchical system, while there is more of a risk management culture in the private sector. This makes it imperative for ex-military officers to apply and adapt the skills they learnt in the army into a different environment.
 
I beg to differ. I feel that they are only good at running security companies providing guards for condominiums.
I know of an ex-SAF senior officer who fucked up at every job he tried after leaving the armed forces, but finally landed a job at a charity where he was paid to do jack shit till he reached the end of his retirement and reemployment age.

Retired Military officers should go back to public service lah. Look at former smrt ceo and former nol ceo. Both flop big time. But look at CCS. Career high high, now is minister. By right, CCS is only capable to be a manager in a security firm
 
Leaders' attitudes and psychology are different between the armed forces and the public sector. Senior military officers may know how to manage large resources and deploy budgets. However, they do not have the same grasp of the profit motive. This is why a search of a CEO for these public transport companies must go beyond our army camps.

where got enough space in all the GLCs and Stat Boards to absorb so many jiakliaobee SAF officers? Many are now being parachuted into SSC, and MFA. One of my former useless CO, the most stupid fucker will meet, did his 25 years in the SAF and then all of a sudden can become consulate general in Pekan Baru. LOL. What he knows about diplomacy can fit on my little finger..
I actually saw some old fart SAF former officer sitting in the management board in Jurong Point.

After unsuccessful attempts to find a job of a similar level owing probably to his age, he started driving a PHV. As S'pore is small, he had passengers who were formerly his clients, colleagues and friends. It affected him for some time, before he got accustomed to his vocation which he continues to hold now at age 62.

After a certain age, especially after 55, it is always easier to put down the pride and move along.
For the younger ones, is not easy to overcome it to take passengers who were once their subordinates or clients.
Last time after I was fired from a good paying job, I took up another job in the same industry but suffered high pay cuts, I always need to avoid going to the ex company for any client meetings. I worried to meet those ex colleagues in the lift etc. Then whenever the company assigned me to goto the ex company, I always need to think of ways to skip it and goto a fresh company.

Even in the mrt, I happened to bound onto some admin staffs, the first question they bombarded me was
Where is your car?
Wtf how not to escape?
