"Make sure you send a clear, non-nonsense message to the PAP our country cannot afford to continue with this insanity of raising the costs of living."

LKY and his legacy - betrayed the Singaporean to work for the Japanese, betrayed the Japanese to work for the British, betrayed the British to work for the communist, betrayed Communist to work for Malays, betrayed Malays to get into power then betray his colleagues and political allies of the past. 识时务者为俊杰!

Singapore is doing quite well and reaps all the benefits East and West. Property prices is at least double of what it used to be. HDB dwellers are millionaires. Sure, things are getting expensive but still cheap for the new immigrants.

PAP will win by a landslide for sure. New citizens will no doubt vote for PAP, half of lcoally born Singaporean will also vote for PAP. After the previous backstabbing by Singaporean, oppositions no longer wants to give up their peaceful lives for undeserving Singaporean. Those who can, have left. Good luck.

LKY said that the new generation of leaders have to be paid obscene salaries to enter politics; unlike the old guard. He knew that the leaders of tomorrow (in his time) are not into public service, but self-service, and has been proven correct.
He also forsaw that Singapore will fall after a couple more generations of leader who will become worse than its predecessor.

Goh Chok Tong claimed that Edwin Tong was reluctant to join the PAP as a Minister initially because he was earning $2 million per year as a lawyer. ET felt that taking a pay cut to become an obscenely paid Minister would result in him not being able to support his family and mother-in-law. LOL!

No activation needed, they willingly go

I'm quite sure most of the people lining the roads during the rain were activated.

The 'willingly go' crowd was the snaking queue leading up to Parliament House, when the coffin was being displayed.

I remember being present at a health fair 10 years ago, where groups of seniors were brought by bus to the venue. I overheard a nurse ask if a woman in that group was there for the basic health screening, chest x-ray or mammogram, and she replied that she had no idea, except that the grassroots leaders asked them to assemble at the foot of the block to be brought to the CC. The guest-of-honour and MP couldn't very well be present at a 1/2 empty event, correct?

Does an individual need an annual gross income of SGD$2 million, to support his family and mother in law?
What is the average annual income of Singaporeans who have been supporting their families?
I believe that there are many individuals and families who are surviving on an annual income of less than $50,000.

The annual salary of a PAP Minister is enough to feed the average S'porean family for a lifetime.
The average monthly salary of a S'porean worker can be earned in 2-3 hours by a PAP Minister.

LKY introduced money politics into the PAP. From 1955 to 1973, the PM's salary was $3,500 per month. A significant salary revision in 1973 increased the PM's pay rise to $9,500 monthly, and other ministers' salaries from $4,500 to $7,000. In 2016 values, these amounts were equivalent to approximately $27,742 (annual $360,646, including 13th month) and $20,441 (annual $265,733, including 13th month) respectively. Then PM LKY justified the increases by emphasising the need to attract qualified individuals to govt service, stating that ministerial salaries needed to be competitive with private sector earnings. He later reiterated this point in 1994, contrasting his generation of leaders with future politicians, who might be motivated by different factors i.e. $$$.
Even for 1955 to 1973 $3500 is an obscene salary.

But 61% love to send the opposite message and enjoy being farked by CECAs, FTs and PAP, what to do?

The political controls to destroy the opposition implemented by PAP has literally zero flaws - POFMA, law suits, GRCs, high cost of living, highest ministerial salaries in the world etc. will continue to convert any would-be quality opposition candidates to join the PAP instead like a vicious cycle.

Unless there is heaven intervention, SG will continued to be ruled by PAP at least for the next 100 years, LOL.

Government leaders (and for that matter anyone in public or private sector) earning such stratospheric salaries (many many multiples that of the average worker) will almost always (with very very rare exceptions) lose touch with the struggles of the common man on the street.

Hence it is not unexpected (but still not excusable) for them to exhibit such skewed views of life and utter such insensitive statements like these totally divorced from reality. Can't believe he is now a minister. Unfortunately these are likely the views of a typical minister in the government now:(

Vote Opposition Until PAP Becomes The Opposition.

Its all about face lah. He was a lousy NUS Law grad, normally, they don't earn that much unless their billing is a lot in their law firm. Given he was made senior counsel (not senior partner) at alan and Gledhill, he has to maintain a certain lifestyle. If he is frugal and drive a cheap Kia, some partner will come to him in his office and scold him and ask him why he don't drive Benz or BMW? Make the firm look bad. It's like that.

There is no such thing as heaven intervention. Look at every political change in Asia. It only occurs when the people take to the streets and demand change. Look at Yellow revolution and ouster of Najib in Malaysia. Look at ouster of Thaksin in Thailand. Look at the ouster or Marcos in Philippines, etc. Only occurred when hundreds of thousands of people took to the streets. The problem is sinkies are too balless and too lazy to do this.
