COE is a form of Indirect Tax : Yes or No

Anything that enrich the coffers of the government are called tax.

As with all forms of tax, it will finally ended up with the people paying for it. With the high COE, it is only a matter of time, when the transport companies starts charging more, from delivery of goods to transportation of people, public bus, taxis, school bus, company buses etc, where the final cost will eventually end up with the people, hence the term Indirect Tax.

ARF
ERP
Tax on Oil, Petrol

COE to hit S$100,000 and above soon??

No, COE is just another excuse for the garmen to take money from its people.

It should be seen as a form of punishment. :D

Buy car, pay COE.
Drive car, pay ERP.

A very ironic reply.
The people elect the government, but the government punishes them for electing them.

Interesting!!

COE is not a tax but a sale of a limited resource, the right of space.
W/o COE ERP, Singapore will have massive jams and pollution everywhere.
The real question is, do you have an altenative?

SMLJ?? With COE we still have massive Jams and pollution. Are you going to say that without COE it's going to be worse?

Alternative is in our so called world crass pubic transport, but have to accept all the breakdown and what not.

Seriously, lets call a spade a spade. Fact is we let in too many foreign trash at a very fast pace and now we're caught with our pants down.

To move forward, they (the garmen) have to acknowledge that they screwed up, and start working on putting things right, not getting a bigger carpet to cover the previous one.

Har? Still jam. That means Singaporean getting numb to ERP prices and can afford it. Must increase ERP and COE price lah.

I give up.. stop complaining as it just gives the government more excuses to tax more.

COE is tax to the poor & its peanuts to the rich.

Imagine, if one was to buy a S5 & he pays COE $92K which represents 27% of the total cost of the car compares top one who buys a Camry. The rich are laughing very hard

Tax for the riches who can afford to pay.... also prove you can be one of the elites, if you pay for it....
