Hi all,

Just to share, based on the experiences i had and from folks here who shared with me, 3 banks i wouldn't touch:

1. SXXXXXXX Chartered Bank
2. H X X C
3. U X B

Your mileage may vary of course but they cited bad representation, high interest rates and lock in clauses.

Just because they have branches in Singapore as well does not mean they do well or provide good service
here. I have friends who told me H X X C folks told them that they can never get loan to buy car or house
in Johore as they are foreigners! That was the only time i had to ever get involved and got another bank
to talk to them. Within days, approval came and then documentation followed. Folks from the SXXXX bank
was worse, promised and told my friends and some forummers here one thing and did another.

You might be better off with some of the local banks, after all, you are borrowing money them to finance a home.
They are way MORE afraid of you than you of them.

This was why i was sooooooo soooooo soooo upsad in fact disappoinited!!! Cos like Bro Wuqi said.... SXXX bank is TERRIBLE & HORRIBLE... they are not called STANDARD in fact they have more than DOUBLE standards... U call their contact centre who is located in KL, they advised and tell u one thing and local JB branch tell you another IN FACT even between 2 different branches also have DIFFERENT practices. My recent experience was that i called the main line to make some enquiry. The standard phone verification was made with my usual my passport no identification and it will clearly stated that i'm a FOREIGNER since i dun have a myKAD ID or Msian no. As discussed with the tele-officer, i heed his professional advice and follow the details he had shared thus emphaisising that i'll drop a cheque for this arrangement. He did not stop me nor resist my actions. After i made the transaction at a nearby cheque deposit, less then a week later, i received a call from courier mendtioned i've mail friom KL (i tot from my lawyers). Once i got back , i opened the letter and found A PC of A4 paper STAPLED with a cashier order of the amount which i bank in earlier. I quickly called up the main line and checked. I questioned them about compliance issues in terms of handling sums of money that they ought to inform with a proper letter head and advised what went wrong. On what account you can remove $$$$ without informing the customer. WHAT IF MAIL IS LOST? all these just made me more upsad. Not only that... many hiccups came on and that's y i was so eager to look for TT services. IT HAS BEEN 2 MONTHS TO DATE, they still charge me for the interest and i'm seeking them to do some necessary compensation since i made no blunder... ...AND knows what they promised to get back to me by yesterday 1530hrs and till now not a sound. LIP service is not what i need and looking for... I seriously would hope this would end in fact i really hope to get out from this bank who also promised that will give a credit card but in the end NOTHING.
IT'S A DARN STUBBORN Bank!!

To call back Malaysia from Singapore, simply add +6 follow by the city code. If it is JB, +607 or +6 016, 012, 010, 011, and etc (for mobile)

Singapore lost
Ladies and Gentlemen,

Can you imagine if England which has a population of 60 million has a dwindling population. Imagine it has a government which completely ignores what Englishmen want. Imagine if they brought in 30 million Romanians to settle in England, and one could not tell the difference since they are both European. Imagine if the English language use in the country continues to decline. Imagine if almost everyone in England today speaks Romanian instead of English. Imagine if Romanians in the country have no clue whatsoever of the long history, culture or democratic traditions of England. Do you think Englishmen would accept this lying down?

Imagine if Germany invited 40 million Cubans to populate Germany so that the proud native Germans with their long history and achievement is completely lost to the Cuban culture and Spanish language. Imagine if today you only see Cubans in every big German city and finding a native German is a rarity. Do you think the Germans would take this lying down? Imagine if unlike the cultured Germans, these recent Cuban imports go around spitting and gesticulating in public indiscriminately, destroying the image that Germans had as a cultured people.

Yet this is exactly what has already happened to Singapore. In 2 more years Singapore would have completely lost their native citizens, their unique character and way of life to recently arrived second rate foreigners who have no idea what Singapore was or even is. English language in the island is destroyed and in it's place there is Mandarin Chinese. The few local Singaporeans remaining have nothing in common with these Mandarin Chinese from China who do not mingle with the locals. The few local Singaporeans remaining seek solace in other local Singaporeans while the Mandarin Chinese imports socialize among themselves. Afterall these 2 have nothing in common.

Look at Singapore today. Every single grocery store employs foreigners, Mandarin Chinese and Filipinos. Same with 7/11 stores, Filipinos. Same with hospitals Filipinos. Government offices all have Mandarin Chinese from China and when they are at a loss for English with a customer, turn to the few remaining supervisors who has some English.

Any sense of identity as Singaporean is completely lost. The vast majority of people there are transient in the sense of being temporary. They are there to make a few bucks which they could not do back in their own countries. They come and go and like people through a revolving door at a hotel; people from the selected donor countries coming and going.

At the top of the pecking order Lee Kuan Yew and his family sit and rule and make money in the process using this imported UnSingaporean foreign labor. In time one wonders whether Singapore's leaders too would be from somewhere else. Would we have a Beijing born Prime Minister and Minister Mentor in the future.

Although local Singaporeans are aware of this irreparable and permanent damage being done to their island, they continue powerless and do nothing looking agape. They fear complaining as this may attract retribution from the Lee family. There are no protests remonstrations demonstrations against this attack upon their beloved Singapore. And to cap it all, while this total transformation of their island goes on unabated thanks to Lee Kuan Yew and son, inherent social conditions further damage the island. The birth rate is the lowest in the world and people are not marrying because of the tight economic stresses upon them. To add salt to the wound, in disgust every single Singapore student who goes to the West for an education never returns.

As if all this was not enough, to make matters worse, the best and the brightest are the ones who leave because they can, leaving behind second rate uneducated and unskilled Singaporeans to live among the recent immigrants from China.

And all this, believe it or not, is happening in a small island comprised of only about 3 million local Singaporeans which already has 2 million foreigners!

Unless concerned Singaporeans take the bull by the horns, stand up and say enough is enough, I don't see any hope. Do you?

I also worried about the skill gap.. All the service, support and engineering work all being taken up by foreigners and they will learn and become more experienced.

Employers will find it harder to employ the locals in future..

Haha looks like they have the same STANDARD whether in Spore or Malaysia  I ever had similar experience with Standard Chartered Spore. I had to call them like three or four times just to do a simple update of the account. Each time the Indian/Pinoy FTrash customer service staff promised to call me back but never called back. Eventually they updated the account after I finally flared up and gave them a big scolding for their substandard service and got them to give me an apology letter for that.

Hi all,
Is the Homefair worth a visit? Thinking bw making a visit today or spending family time (since my kids would probably not enjoy such a fair..) Any advice?

I went there just to look see and found it quite interesting. Saw a fridge selling for RM12k that can go to -24 degrees celsius and can keep meat fresh for upto 1 year! Vegs can keep fresh for two weeks. Not sure how much they sell such fridges in Spore that can go so much minus zero, haven't been visiting such exhibitions in Spore. No such budget but just see for fun at these expensive appliances.

There are also things like water filter, tested one that can produce ozone and remove garlic smell quickly from the hands. Thought that was quite good. Oh also saw them selling the solar panels for storage water heater at about RM3.9k. Other things are the standard kitchen cabinets, iron grilles, some furniture too.

One thing is they restricted the movement to one direction like Ikea, but unlike Ikea they didn't allow shortcut and for people to exit half way, so die die must walk through the whole exhibition. That was really bad planning as the exhibition area consisted of two levels and it was really tedious to need to move through the entire two floors just to exit.

toyohon is right; it's quite challenging for the local town councils to enforce payment of fines; even in Petaling Jaya or other towns around Klang Valley. Most people I know in KL have a habit of throing away their parking summons. Until the local town council ties up with the RTD and traffic police, there is little to worry about if you don't pay. Anyway, Merdeka Day is on 31st Aug.

BTW, I'm not advocating "not" paying your fine; just sharing how it is.

Oic good to know that there is little to worry. Now i can sleep peacefully
