the S$1B is mind boogling for a garden and the maintenance cost will escalate as time goes by...and the S$1B does not include land costs.

The GBTB site is precious and expensive and can be made into much better use......I see that GBTB will be redeveloped in abt 20yrs time

i will not be surprised. it is prime land. maybe another airport! or even another massive casino!

Indeed it is prime land...

maybe the govt is using the reclaimed land for the Garden for the next 20yrs to allow the ground to firm and settle before they use it for more permanent usage like like an entertainment complex or condo complex..

that wld be the only redeeming point..the GBTB cant be there for long...opportunity costs is too high

okok.
Yes, damn it! So much money for a garden? Could they have put the money to better use or built a cheaper garden?

sometimes, the company wants an expensive garden so that they can make more money from the project..

Frankly the place is abt flowers and tress...nothing technologically advance nor innovative nor fantastic...why do simple trees and plants cost so much?

cant blame me for asking questions abt due diligence in spending public money.

Do u recall the thread where LHL claimed that beautifying the skylines was important?

These are the things that are important to them.

It will be a waste if the is just an expensive showcase.

Use it to research green energy, challenge our universities, to use Green tech to lower the energy cost.

Grow herbs to research alternative cure for cancer

that will be more meaningful then just grab money from tax payer to maintain a tourists attraction.

you shd visit GBTB and see the gross waste of money and waste of prime land

it is very extravagant i must admit...very very preposterously and ostentiously indulgent. but ...but it speaks volumes of the massive scale of this world class project:smile:...very daring i must say. very bold and very courageous.

I don't want to, it will just be another irritation. Better to stay at home and watch football.

sometimes it's good for singaporeans to vist places like that so that they realise how the pap is self glorying and using public funds to benefit GLC and TLCs..

Why spend so much on YOG? who benefit from it? SFI? GLCs?

why spend S$1B on GTBT..is it really worth that kind of money? Who makes profits form this GBTB project?

to me...world class projects are Great Wall of China, Egyptian Pyramid, Garden of Babylon, Taj Mahal, etc..GBTB is just abt trees and flowers...nothing fantastic

i dont deny that beautifying the skylines is important...but due diligence must be exercise when spending public money..and if we cant pay $200m for a project, why pay $1B? are we getting value for money?

i bring up the issue of due diligence because of the gross mishandling of YOG budget and planning
