Fly fishing I have never try. Never think of fly fishing because Singapore don't have river/lake. Somemore need to cast all the times. Me too lazy just laid the bait down and wait.

Any bros here loves fishing ? Please come and share some of your experience or fishing tips etc.... Cheers:wink:

Sure.

The best fish I ever caught was a hum.

The best saltwater fish I ever caught was Ikan Pasir Pasir using a handline with seaworms for bait.

The best freshwater fish I ever caught was a Common Carp on a cheap rod/reel combo using sweetcorn (from a can) as bait. Was also the best fight.

Except for one, ALL my fishing trips eventually degenerated in drinkin or gambling sessions.

My most memorable fishing trip was at a kelong where I didn't fish but got into the pants of the best looking girl on the trip.

My most enjoyable fishing experience was ice-fishing where we got totally wasted and caught fuckall.

Even though I am not an ardent angler - fishing is time well spent. Fishing is a lesson and an adventure in friendship.

The first lesson in fishing is how to tie and knot to a hook.

Cheers!

Ya. Look rather odd to do fly fishing here, like a water cowboy, not like temperate countries where they have shallow waters and plenty of fish. It also require different equipment. There used to be a shop at Beach Rd specialising in fly fishing and used to watch them making custm rods and flies as large as a bird, very artistic and colourful. It closed down few years back.

Kelong is a nice experience. I don't know how they're like nowadays, heard they have karaoke and things like that. From secondary school days in the seventies up to the time before I got married, used to go kelong, sometimes with my uncles' fishing friends and sometimes with a bunch of guys and gals - sort of like group date kind of thing. It was always interesting looking out into the sea at night, watching the kelong men haul up the catch, or just sitting around and talking - w/o being tossed around like in a boat. When my kid gets a little more confident in the water, I plan to take the family on a kelong weekend the next time we visit Singapore. Nice way to spend a weekend away from the traffic noises. Fish porridge for supper sounds good right now.

Y'guys have fun!!

Cheers!

Wah, these will scare away the fish. On that note, I remember on one of the trips we heard one kelong man say to his friend in teochew, "Nowadays, kelong don't catch fish, but catch people." How true.

It's roughing it out a little there; but not as bad as in a tent though. Used to get a laugh and found it quite amusing when someone's got to take a shit, especially at low tide when the droppings have a further distance to hit water.

Y'all must be quite serious fishermen. Been once out seafishing on a boat and admit it wasn't comfortable. Wasn't looking fwd to another trip after that. I like the sea, but more for its beaches and watersports. Would still fish if there was someone else to do it with.

Cheers!

anyone here tired fish sotong before? if so, can teach me how to? thanks....

Easy. You must have a bright light with you aim it at the water. Sotong attract to bright light. Then use sotong jig cost about $2/pcs drop the jig in the light spot about 1m below the water and no need to put the bait on it.
Yes very fun using light rod max.PE3. Don't use super heavy rod will not be than FUN.
For me if there is lots/group of small sotong I will use net. For big one I will use Sotong JIG.
Take note be careful Sotong will bite U and is very painful(very painful for big one) small one u can try if never being bite before. And also be careful with it black in/liquid will spry out from it head and very hard to wash.
Good luck! Really FUN
