SINgapore swimmers practices in ORCHARD RIVER .....:D 50m free style from Wendy's to Paterson Rd Junction, backstroke from Liat Towers to Lucky Plaza....they got a silver medal...

We should embrace them, that is the spirit of sports, they are a poor country with no proper pool, so what? Don't be like PAP, only suck up to the rich and powerful.

wah .... so easy get silver ..... then how come practice in crocodile infested river never get gold ?

Don't they have certified minimum qualifying times before being allowed to take part in a World sports event like the YOG?

It sort of cheapens the whole event that winning the GOLD medal is not something to be cherished.

As kids we also learned swimming at Kallang River before they built Kallang Bahru Swimming Pool. Damn fun but dirty, and dangerous with monitor lizards. Either catch them by their tails or they bite you. Until become impossibly dangerous when we saw that blardy blard thirsty looking croc. All scrambled upbank like olympic torpedoes, called police and dared not dive in again.

Later grown up, I joined police. Blardy hell some uncles fishing there saw croc again and called police. Lucky I smart, referred call to zoo. :D

Luckily the monitor lizards, didn't turn around & bite off your 'family jewels'..:D what happened to all the crocodiles? now the river is used for activities...during that time, you didn't call for Steve Irwin?;)

Do they have any diving event in swimming for YOG?, the divers from Vanuata will tell you, they practiced diving by jumping off high wooden towers with their legs tied on Pentecost Island...

I think it's reverse. Standards too high (regardless of age) go regular adult teams, can't qualify for YOG.

For example in football, youngsters like Diego Maradona and Michael Owen as they were in their times, once selected for regular adult teams, were disqualified from youth teams. I think the same applies across all sports.

.... eerrrr ... were they naked while practicing or were they wearing swimsuits with 3 rifles brand ....:D

I think nowadays no more crocs in inland rivers after Marina Barrage. Crabs also don't have already. They couldn't stray in from the seas already.
