Singapore today is a country where local youths capable of getting good degrees cannot get into Singapore universities because the govt has given out thousands of places and scholarships for foreigners. This universities are build using tax payers money and Singapore youths have to serve National Service. For years Singaporeans live with this injustice, middle class parents used their savings to send their children overseas to get a good degree while poor children are denied a university education that will better their lives. What kind of govt is this that use Singaporeans' money to benefit foreigners instead of their own citizens? What is so good about denying Singaporeans a chance to better their lives?
Yesterday, those who came early saw this touching scene at the stadium. An 80 year old man was walking across the field inch by inch using a walking stick. When other Singaporeans saw this, they rushed forward to help the old man carrying him all the way from one end of the field right up to the front so that he could hear the speeches clearly. This is Singaporeans at their best helping each other and helping those in need. Unfortunately, we have a govt that does not believe in Sinaporeans anymore....it simply pile up the burdens of Singaporeans be it medical care, education, housing...the burden is now breaking our backs. We must now help each other to make this govt better just like those people who carried the old man across the field. We are Singaporeans and Singaporeans help each other. We have to put aside our selfish desire to vote just to get estate upgrading. That is the Singapore Way...like our forefathers who were bullied coolies and fishermen, we mush help each other.
