YPAP activist Sinha Shekhar who sparked an outcry in cyberspace lately by describing PAP critics as “dogs” on the YPAP Facebook was given an “Outstanding Contributors’ award” by Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong on a REACH Forum last week for the regularity of his contributions.

Mr Sinha Shekhar is a new citizen from India and is currently the Head of Rehabilitation at Thye Hua Kwan Hospital. He is a speech therapist by training and previously worked at the National Council of Social Services.
When asked by REACH on the issue of “integrating” foreigners in Singapore, Mr Sinha suggested that “self-help groups such as SINDA, CDAC and MENDAKI proactively reach out to the immigrants and create avenues and opportunities for them to celebrate local festivals, cultures etc so as to create a positive and common atmosphere among different groups.”

These self-help groups are funded partly by ordinary Singaporeans from the Indian, Chinese and Malay communities respectively to help the less fortunate Singaporeans.
It is not known if Singaporeans will agree to Mr Sinha’s proposal to use their contributions to promote “integration” of the new immigrants which has become a national obsession lately.
Even grassroots organizations are using taxpayers’ monies to celebrate foreign festivals for foreigners to show our “respect” to them to quote a senior PAP leader.
Due to the PAP’s liberal immigration and pro-foreigner policies, foreigners now make up 36 percent of Singapore’s population, up from 14 percent in 1990. Of the remaining 64 percent who are citizens, an increasing number are born overseas.
As too many foreigners are allowed into Singapore within too short a period of time, Singapore is now experiencing problems on how to integrate all of them.
At the same time, more and more Singaporeans are getting disgruntled at the PAP’s discriminatory policies against them which seem to favor the foreigners.
For example, Singapore males have to serve 2 years of National Service and another 10 years or so of reservist obligations, but not the newcomers.
The PAP unveiled a mega $10-million dollar Community Integration Fund last year to make the immigrants feel accepted, welcomed and happy in Singapore.
PAP leaders have been exhorting Singaporeans to welcome the foreigners as they are “indispensable” to our economy.
In other developed countries like Australia, New Zealand and Canada, it is the immigrants who are expected to integrate themselves into local society. It is the other way round in Singapore and somemore Singaporeans have to spend to integrate them!
Besides REACH forum, Mr Sinha is also active on the YPAP Facebook where he is a vigorous defender of the PAP’s policies. With such loyal netizens like Mr Sinha around, the PAP can be assured of its political longevity for many more “good” years to come.
