HDB residents discover "corpse stuffed in a bag"
Shin Min Daily News - 3 hrs 59 mins ago
Residents in a Geylang HDB flat were shocked to discover a "corpse" in a plastic bag outside their homes this morning.
A resident Mr Tan (35, self-employed) got out of his flat at Blk 132, Geylang Ave 1 to water his plants when he spotted the "body" wrapped in a plastic bag.
Recalling the numerous corpses discovered around the island in recent months, Mr Tan immediately called the police.
Two policemen arrived at the scene ten minutes later only to see the "body" sit up and pick out a cigarette from another nearby plastic bag.
They then discovered that the "corpse" was in fact a man who had bagged himself in a plastic bag to sleep at the stairwell.
Mr Tan had not realised this as he could not see whether the person was alive and breathing from the place he was standing.
It is speculated that the strange man, clad in an army t-shirt, had covered himself with a plastic bag to keep himself warm in the recent cooler evenings. Mr Tan's son had already seen the man sleeping at the stairwell earlier but he explained that the man was not "in a bag" at that time.
The police proceeded to take down the strange man's particulars, then the man packed up and left.
