I don't understand your title. You mean WP has been contesting so that they are all out to lose their deposits?

I don't think they intend to lose deposit at any time, but I think 2006 AMK they're prepared to lose for experience.

1 on 1 situation in a GRC fight.... it is unlikely an opposition party unable to secure a 12.5% of the valid votes.

In 2001.. oppositions worse year. SDP (bad reputation) then scored 20% in Jurong GRC to keep their deposits. That means in worst years there are still 20% of the population in a GRC voted against PAP.

If this 20% is to be split in a 3 corners fight then at least one opposition party will lose its deposit

Like I've said, nothing confirmed. What I heard is M-K team going to be LTK, CSM, Rahizan and that former perm sec, tentatively.

Very formidable team indeed. If they can find someone 'stronger' than Rahizan, it should be very very close. Chinese voters will also scrutinise the minority team member. Just curious - must it be a Malay for M-K? Can be Indian?

Yes I've checked, M-K is Malay minority required. Rahizan should be the most politically experienced Malay not only in WP but whole opposition slate. He was former sec-gen. PKMS, stood in M-K (old Jalan Besar) 2001 and Aljunied 2006.

WP toured Chong Pang last weekend and it seemed from the photos Poh Lee Guan and Lian Chin Way, the 2 former candidates in Nee Soon East and Nee Soon Central, were not present. LTK, Angela and Shin Leong were in the spotlight this time. I wonder what's their plan for Nee Soon. There's a sizable number of WP supporters in Nee Soon as well, and with Ho Peng Kee and Ong Ah Heng retiring, chances look improved. I wonder what's their plan for Nee Soon.

I'd rather WP form a stronger team for Aljunied with LTK and Sylvia and Rahizan. Dr Chen can stand alone in Joo Chiat and kick out upper mortal Charles.

We probably have less than a month to Nomination Day, all will be unveiled soon.

Latest insider news I've heard from a WP friend is, WP isn't banking on Aljunied GRC alone, they're going all out to win three GRCs, not one. LTK is stepping out of Hougang but not to Aljunied. The top three in WP will each be leading a GRC team.

Sec-Gen. LTK : Moulmein-Kallang GRC
Chairman Sylvia Lim : Aljunied GRC
Treasuer Eric Tan : East Coast GRC

Makes perfectly good sense.

1. If they can carry it off, it proves their standing in the party's CEC and deserve followership.
2. If all go in, we'll get the core of the strongest Opp into parliament, which makes sense for being a future possible alternative
3. They get to learn the ropes early
4. keeping the eggs in diff baskets

I wish LTK and his teams good luck, God bless, and a great fight to the end!

Thanks bro. Frankly, never heard of this Rahizan chap before.

Looks like WP have some more heavyweight secret weapons, but they won't disclose to non-members like me of course. I only heard some scholar and some former perm sec. Nothing confirmed. Let's watch.

These are probably the "significant surprises" that LTK said his party would unveil on Nomination Day. Seems like WP has the strongest slate of quality opposition candidates ever to be fielded in an election.

Can tell which former perm sec? I am assuming you mean from the civil service, is it Ngiam Tong Dow but too good to be true for this chap to move to Opposition cos he is a very good friend of the Old Lau Lee.

He looks a decent and intelligent guy. Sec-Gen. PMKS parachuted out before PKMS infighting and implosion became a joke in the Malay community.

I don't know, have to watch nomination day.

Like that at most 50/50 chance, maybe even 40/60 in favour of PAP. WP should put all 3 heavyweights into one GRC. I PAP Minister and 4 yes men sure cannot beat 3 WP heavy weights one. Securing 1 GRC will big win for WP.

Agree with you. WP must put LTK, Sylvia, Eric, Chen Show Mao and Rahizan all on the Aljunied team at least. Even Francis Seow and Jeya tag-team could only garner 48% in Cheng San. Don't forget Kaki Bukit 20k voters have been thrown into Aljunied. It takes a mountain of effort to reach that tipping point.

The new WP has more than LTK and Sylvia Lim's influence. It has ability to strategise and make penetrative decisions. My opinion is that they do not need our advice. Let's see how they play their cards and we will know who are the new power brokers within the WP.

Don't think Francis Seow and Jeya were ever a tag team.
A team including Francis and Lee Siew Choh nearly won Eunos in 1988.
A team including Jeya and Tang Liang Hong nearly won Cheng San in 1997.
The key message is that nearly is not good enough.

I'm not privy to their party strategy but I'm sure they know what they're planning and doing. What I can personally opine is that if we look at EC, Aljunied and M-K, they're along the line from east to east central. The logistics would be easier and the rally fever spillover to each other would be better tapped.
