We know almost for certain which GRC will have which minister anchoring the ward. The other MPs will likely be standing in their own ward from the last election and then there are the noobs. The noobs isn't going to swing much votes over to the PAP side so the opposition. In that case, is there a need for the opposition to be so hush hush about all this. Wouldn't it be more useful for the opposition to tell the ward where they are contesting that they will be there and make their presences felt?

Completely agree with you. All part and parcel of politics. If Opposition forms the next government, they will do the same things to gain an upperhand.

I think as soon as map released and candidates confirmed, it's to their advantage to introduce candidates a.s.a.p. and therefore the actual campaigning starts from map release, not nomination day.

Exactly!!! I don't understand why the opposition suddenly become so quiet. I thought it was a good idea that NSP announced their candidates early, even before PAP did anything. At least we know for a fact that so and so will be representing them. The next step is to come out and introduce yourself to the ward you are contesting. I can understand NSP holding back since GMS suddenly balls shrink when he heard WP was coming. But LTK has no excuse not to do it. He knows where he wants to go and is refusing to compromise. Since he has confirm it might as well introduce it to the ward so that the pple there will know who is coming and they can introduce themselves better. Get more exposure via traditional media or otherwise. Right now it's a guessing game for the voters which is ridiculous.

Not announcing to media is only because of possibility of last minute changes in GRC teams of a few. Have to guard against that possibility in teams of people.

I suspect there is another reason why they chose not to disclose - fear of last minute individual withdrawals which will embarrass their party leaders. This won't happen to MIW but great chance of happening in opposition parties. You never know the real motivation of some of these jokers.

It's team tactics.
If you already know where is no.1 seed, no.2 seed, no.3 seed going to, the opponent will place their strategy on the standard of the seeds. They will just place their best seed against the 3rd and let one of the last fight against the 1st.

The advantage is closer rapport and identification with your target voters. Pray tell, what advantage is there in keeping secret and voters in the dark till nomination day? You think PAP is afraid of certain opposition members popping up somewhere last minute? I don't think so. They have to contest all constituencies anyway. They look at LTK or CSM. But wherever they pop up, PAP still must contest. Send a minister or not, up to them. PAP sending a minister or not, if intended to contest, opposition declaring first will inspire confidence in the electorate, that's the advantage.

My intel says he's long time friend of Eric Tan when he was legal adviser to Royal Bank of Canada when Eric was a banker there. Naturally, when he has interest in politics he approached Eric first and of course, Eric would lead him to WP.

I am from Moulmein-Kallang GRC and my vote definitely goes to WP.

I doutb opposition all together will in 3 GRC or more.
