ARGENTINA ALREADY WON WOR !!!!

Argentina coach Alejandro Sabella sought to take the pressure off his side going into Wednesday's FIFA World Cup™ semi-final against the Netherlands in Sao Paulo, claiming that they had 'already won'.

"Our intention was to go as far as possible, and to try to get in among the best four teams. Having reached this stage, we will never settle for losing now, but for me this group of players have already won," Sabella said.

Argentina are preparing to play their first World Cup semi-final in 24 years, since Diego Maradona's side reached the Final in Italy in 1990. Then they lost 1-0 to West Germany in the final, and the Germans lie in wait this time after their stunning 7-1 defeat of Brazil in Belo Horizonte.

TALK LIKE T HIS MEANS THE END OF THE ROAD FOR ARGENTINA....NETHERLANDS WILL DEMOLISH THEM JUST LIKE THE GERMANS FINISHING OFF THE BRAZILIANS....LIKE THE German Blitzkrieg!!!

Fuelled by decades of hurt, Lionel Messi's Argentina and Arjen Robben's Netherlands will carry competing motivations into Wednesday's tantalising FIFA World Cup™ semi-final showdown at Sao Paulo's Corinthians Arena.

Argentina, who last reached the Final in 1990, will be determined to pay appropriate homage to former great Alfredo Di Stefano, who died on Monday aged 88, while arch rivals Brazil could by then be awaiting in the final.

The Netherlands, meanwhile, are eager to rediscover their group-stage swagger and prove they are finally ready to claim football's greatest prize after agonising Final defeats in 1974, 1978 and 2010.

SHAME OF SHAMES.." MINEIRAZO"!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Brazil's national media quickly dubbed the football team's 7-1 defeat to Germany on Tuesday the "Shame of Shames" and the most humiliating defeat in the squad's history.

Newspapers and TV commentators called the defeat the "Mineirazo," an allusion to the Mineirao Stadium in Belo Horizonte and Brazil's traumatic FIFA World Cup™ defeat at home in 1950 known as the "Maracanazo."

The sport's daily Lance called Tuesday's crushing loss "The Biggest Shame in History."

"The Maracanazo becomes nothing and literally a thing of the past," the newspaper said on its website.

The top of Folha de Sao Paulo newspaper's website was titled "Historic Shame" after Brazil suffered its worst defeat in the national team's 100-year history.

"Brazil is humiliated again trying to win the cup at home," the daily said.

The G1 news website quotes Brazilian manager Luiz Felipe Scolari saying "catastrophic result".

Its sister sports publication Globoesporte.com called it the "Shame of Shames".
