Wonder what will happen if the former thai PM is convicted of his charges?

Many a thing may be affected. Including an EPL football club!

Since Thaksin is willing to go back to Thailand, I am sure hes confident that hes able to fend off any charges that may lead him to a jail sentence. At the most, its going to be heavy fines.

Unless theres another change of government again ....

Thai PM plans major cabinet reshuffle
Posted: 13 July 2008 1229 hrs

BANGKOK - Thai Prime Minister Samak Sundaravej announced plans Sunday for a major cabinet reshuffle following a series of legal battles that forced three of his ministers out of office.

The new cabinet line-up will be announced later this month, Samak said, implying that he might wait for a decision in late July in yet another court case that could force three more of his ministers to suspend their duties.

"I will absolutely reshuffle the cabinet. It will be a big reshuffle to make the cabinet better and stronger," he said in his weekly television programme."

In the past, when people became ministers, it was an honour. But now they arrive in office with one leg in jail," he said.

Last week, foreign minister Noppadon Pattama resigned after the Constitutional Court ruled that he had violated the charter by signing a controversial deal with Cambodia over a disputed Hindu temple on the border.

The court also forced out the health minister for concealing his wife's assets when he took office.

A junior minister earlier resigned in May after he was charged with offending Thailand's revered king in a speech about the 2006 coup against then-premier Thaksin Shinawatra.

Three more ministers, including Finance Minister Surapong Suebwonglee, may have to suspend their duties if the Supreme Court decides later this month to take up a case accusing them of corruption in a lottery scandal.

The legal battles have opened the door to even more investigations that could lead to Samak's impeachment and the dissolution of the ruling People Power Party (PPP). - AFP/vm

Though noting concern abt Thaksin but sure mean sumting 4 the thai pple.

Thaksin is a clever person. He knows what he is dealing with, like the last "escape" he did. He dares to come back to Bangkok, show he has everything under control.

Current govt is his aide. He will get away with whatever allegations against him with limited damaged.

What a charade.. remember that bht2mil lunch box thing in court (for some preliminary hearing on Taksin's case)? His lawyers kena instead, 1 even got barred from legal practice and imprisoned. Protagonist (of course) denied responsibility and even agreed to court justice of meting out punishment kns!
Three members of the legal time for ex-prime minister Thaksin Shinawatra were ordered to prison for six months without appeal on Wednesday for their part in the snack-box bribe attempt at the Supreme Court.
A panel of three judges found lead lawyer Pichit Chuenban, legal assistant Supasri Srisawat and the coordinator of the legal team Thana Tansiri guilty of contempt of court within the court precints.
The Supreme Court handed down the sentences after investigating the case. The three were convicted for "violating the dignity of the court," Supreme Court Vice President Moonkol Thapthieng announced.
On June 10, a C-7 court official reported that a lawyer had handed him a snack box containing two million baht and told him to spread it around.
After an investigation, Supreme Court officials charged Mr Thaksin's lawyers with an attempt to bribe court officials.
The three cannot appeal the verdict or their sentence.
Mr Thana failed to show up for the hearing, claiming he had a headache. The court ruled that his ailment was minor, and that he was avoiding an appearance as ordered. The court issued an arrest warrant on the spot.
On June 10, Mr Pichit and his team, representing Mr Thaksin and his wife Khunying Potjaman, were at the court to report the couple had returned from a business trip overseas.
