Sections 3 - 1 (D) clearly states that is an offence to raise discontent or disaffection amongst the citizens of SIngapore. Also, section E of the same act also says it an offence to promote ill will among different classes of the population. Clearly, this assholes' comment on only the poor using the MRT is intended to highlight the differences between his class (the rich, Porsche ownership class) and the poorer class. And judging by the reaction on this forum and the social media in SIngapore, his comments have certainly raised discontent among the citizens in singapore. Since this guy is a SIngapore PR, its not a case of just deport this mother fucker, he should stand trial. Going by the letter of the law, he definitely is guilty of sedition. But 2 things weigh in favour of his getting away with it:

1. The govt seems to take action only when racist slurs or insults are aimed at Malays, for obvious political (and geo-political) reasons. Indians to a lesser extent. You think this fascist govt will do anything to stand up for the dignity of the poor and downtrodden?

2. Ang mo tua kee with the old colonial master backing him

I fully agree that there should be a big gap between the rich and poor. If there wasn't, there would be no incentive whatsoever to become successful and wealthy and the whole world order would collapse.

There will always be the poor and the rich, just like there will always be Chinese, Malay & Indians. That is the reality.

But promoting ill-will and creating discord between social, religious or racial groups which might lead to social unrest is sedition. Personally I believe in free speech, but if the govt wants to have a seditious law and enforce it, then apply it fairly and across the board. No double std for chow ang mo.
