I think you got confused there. The Jews were the ones that cam here under cover of Mexicans. No Sinkies went to the Holy land under guise of Mexicans. You must also understand that weapons/defense system trades are also a form of diplomacy and capital transfer.

This is to justify the sky high salaries of the ministerS and their underlings. They are 'managing' billions of dollars to 'assets', hence the need for 'compatiible' pay packages, which even if they are in the millions, are only 'a fraction' of the asset value.......

It's justifiable lah. I am sure when you got abundant resources like the Sultans, you desire to buy a LamBoGenie or Furlali in addition to the Lexus, Mercedes or BMW in your possession. Sama sama, Singapore is a rich nation so must have class and spend on latest collection. Not only does it look nice, but also protect the country as well. These sophisticated planes are purchased after very careful consideration and evaluation; they are high technology and have great economic value - if the need arises, Singapore will be ready to host such planes for maintenance, repair or even manufacture of parts. Just like Singapore was among the first in the region to build air terminal to host the new double-decker A380 - more such planes can land in Singapore - creating new and more jobs and more wealth for the people in the process. And of course the manufacture of airplane engines.

Let's us not deceive ourselves - the pragmatic Singapore government with all the top brains think long term and strategically to protect the wealth of the country - and ever mindful of the bottomline. That's how Singapore survives and prospers - my humble opinion.

Challenge is when enemy planes take off - they would reach Singapore before these aircraft can take off. But never mind, it's nice to have.

These are not fighter aircraft that will need to take off when enemy approaches. They are meant for surveillance and fly on a 24 hour X 365 days rotational basis. They are built for the purpose of giving us early warning before the enemy can attack and also command and control to direct our fighters to engage.

Singapore will be ready to host such planes for maintenance, repair or even manufacture of parts.

These aircraft are top secret hence not for civilians to perform maintenance. They will be maintained by one of the GIC like ST Aerospace. No parts will be manufactured as they are all manufactured in the States by General Dynamics.

And of course the manufacture of airplane engines.

Singapore has no capability to manufacture the entire aircraft engine and will not be manufacturing any.

My instructors from SIW also went "country X" for training. I even saw their group photo with Temple Mount behind. But never heard of them saying anything about changing passport.

The only thing I heard was only the non-Muslim instructor went.

Malaysia and Indonesia dont need high tech weapon to fight with Singapore. They just need to to use Artillery fire from border . I think Malaysia/Indon already 24/7 aim the gun at the Singapore. They just need to load the gun and fire. That less than a minute run way in Singapore is a graveyard.

I think the E-2D will not be ready in time to replace the E-2C and perhaps more expensive in terms of parts and maintenance. Also need to consider the speed, range and engine-type. The turboprop is not build for speed which may be a major consideration. When attacked, Singapore will not be a choice location to land and maybe Australia is the best place to park them.

Why not? U can upgrade the engine, the radar, the hardware and software of the command system. All these doesn't have anything to do with how old the aircraft is. The only thing is the structure fatigue.
