if you study the topographic (and pornographic) map of sg, you will notice that the catchment reserve (3 main reservoirs) strides between bukit timah road in the west and upper thomson road in the east. both roads lead to south central where orchard road is. orchard road, and therefore stamford canal, is like the armpit in the middle standing in the way between higher elevations in the center (and two water conduits: bukit timah and upper thomson) and the sea in the south. a minor hiccup along the shitflow can cause crock to pile up, more so if the anus is artificially choked with a gated diaper.
