Why juicing helps with diabetes, cancer,...

I always include a beetroot whenever I juice. I find that there are 2 kinds of beetroot. The more common beetroot which does not have the green stalk leaves sticking at the top. This is what you normally find being sold at supermarkets e.g. NTUC

The other variety is the one with the green leaves sticking out the top. I think they are a different variety because these are smaller & are slightly more expensive. I have only found them at health stores like Natures Glory in Spore. When they are available I get both varieties. However this variety is sometimes not available.

I normally buy by veges from Foodland near my home but it ran out of beetroot so yesterday's juicing without. Evening went to another supermarket and found some but the top part looks a little strange as normally the leaves are long and straight but these look like this

You are right johnny there are probably more than one type.

The Philips juicer may last a lifetime so if you are waiting for it to break down you may have to wait a long..long time. :)

Replacing your centrifugal juicer with a masticating or triturating juicer does provide benefits which you may not be aware of. The quantity & quality of the juice will improve when you upgrade to a masticating juicers.

If you want to know what are the advantages about the different types of juicers you can google "centrifugal vs masticating" e.g. http://juicing-for-health.com/juicer-review/what-to-look-for/centrifugal-vs-masticating-juicer.html

The leafy beetroot I get has a much longer green stalk which is about 20cm to 30cm long. Since they are from Australia, they may be an Australian variant not available locally.

Sorry I don't have any experience with the Hurom.

I own a twin gear juicer & not a Hurom juicer which is a single gear system. My juicer is the Super Angel 7500 & at $1,300 it is more expensive than the Hurom.
Here is a vdeo clip showing the Super Angel 5500

It can easily handle wheatgrass because it is a twin gear system. The reason I invested in the Super Angel is because it is a very efficient juicer.

Hi Johnny, I've seen the Angle juicer in action while in Taiwan. I feel its like pretty big occupying quite a big space on the table. May I ask you if its difficult to wash after using? I've gotten used to the Hurom and found it easy to wash.

Yes when assembled it can occupy a large space. That is why I store it disassembled. I store the 2 gears & it's housing on my dish rack:)

The Angel Juicer main body is similar in size to my toaster. It may appear big because of the longish twin gears. I store the 2 gears & housing separately on my drying rack. I only assemble the whole unit when I want to juice. It is because of this long gears that the Super angel is able to squeeze so much juice.

Take a look at this video. 1:13 seconds into the video you will see how easy it is to disassemble the 2 gears.
Once you unlock the collar, it breaks down to the 2 stainless steel gears & the housing.

The difficult part to wash is the longish tube part & that is why they provide a brush to make it easier to clean. However as long as you wash up soon after juicing, it should not be a problem.

Found a better video showing how easy it is to clean the Angel Juicer. The cleaning part begins at 14 minutes into the video.

Angel juicer get more juice out than hurom but the process of doing it is slower.

The angel juicer is all steel and no plastic i presume as that is what i see on the video. Hurom is all plastic and people who are concerned with BPA issue might think of the steel ones even if it is stated BPA-free.

Is angel juicer the cold-pressed type?

In my opinion the top 2 machines are the Norwak(http://www.norwalkjuicers.com/) & Angel Juicer. They cost more because of the stainless steel construction. I decided to go with the Angel Juicer because of the smaller size & after watching this video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-roFYa1wPpk It shows that the yield of Angel juice is higher than the Norwalk. I have seen the Norwalk at Natures Glory & the unit is very big:eek:

Hurom may be slightly faster but not by much. In the long term the Angel Juicer will pay for itself because of the yield that the juicer extracts. The secret is of it's efficiency is in the length of it's 2 gears.
Both the Hurom & Angel are cold press juicers. The main difference is that that the Angel uses 2 gears while the Hurom uses a single gear(augur) arranged vertically rather than horizintally.

When you buy an Angel you can get an optional stainless steel cup for about $35. I use this cup everyday:) If I need an extra cup a pyrex measuring glass does a good job http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_sb_s...rds=pyrex measuring cup&sprefix=pyrex,aps,797

most importantly, pls tell us where to buy angel juicer in singapore!!!
