it is not difficult to commute a death sentence to life imprisonment. but our great leaders don't want to waste public resources giving free room and board for life to hardcore criminals. and forced prison labour to make the inmate pay for their keep, is not fashionable internationally.
so how mr Koh? should we spend more money to give free room and board to all the drug traffickers?

Unlike the Aussie, the Americans etc who will scream and cry father, mother and then host country got no face. So far we have released a German girl and now this S Korean.
Right. Michael Fay might have escaped vandalism charges if US embassy chaps did not enter into a direct confrontation with the govt. They should not have gone to the press and made the case public. Going by the backdoor route is always a better option. It allows the host country to 'loke tai' with ease.
Germans and South Koreans diplomats are noted for their success in this area. They have been successfully done this even for hostage cases around the world. The skill of protracted negotiations. Unlike the Aussie, the Americans etc who will scream and cry father, mother and then host country got no face. So far we have released a German girl and now this S Korean.

The German embassy will not even tell the family members what they are doing behind the scenes so nobody can pichah lobang. They follow protocol, go to MFA who then provides liaison to MHA etc.

Agree with Drifter. The place is a fucking industrial complex. SEA's bakery, laundry etc. Heavy workshop, car panels, horticulture, high end rosewood furniture etc.
The only thing missing is an EDB branch office. All the airlines flying and out of Singapore have their linen done in Changi.
