my home got old farts, middle-aged farts and young farts. The young farts are usually the ones guilty of not turning off lights (and even ceiling fans). I need to install more security cameras and implement a demerit system. When they have no points left, I'll kick them onto the streets.
I often return home from work to find the ceiling fan and TV on in the living room, but none of my children there. Even when they go to the bathroom for a prolonged period of time, the aircon and lights are left on in their bedrooms. At times, I find the computer and table lamp on after they have gone to sleep too.

Bingo! That's the problem with these youngsters, tell them a thousand times, they say ok ok, but still leave lights, fans etc turned on when not in use. They don't pay power bill, so they heck care.

Another bad habit is standing under the shower and allowing the water to run for an eternity. In the morning, they appear to do that to wake themselves up!

All homes can have standing lamps lah, so don't need to always use ceiling lights. Standing lamps create a warm and cozy atmosphere, also good for spot lighting when reading.
OK cos I saw you mentioned light up corridors I thought you were saying having standing lamps outside the house KNN and I thought you borrowed those lights from the condo facilities KNN
But then usually more atas house then will have standing lamp also lah

There are a few ground floor units at my condo which have these fake "fire
lamps" mounted at their balconies, which look really realistic at night

Bingo again! They love to waste water. Can hear the shower run continuously for 15-20 mins. One of my grandsons, I heard him brushing his teeth at the sink, and I can also hear the shower running at the same time! He confessed. I told him if I ever catch him do that again, I'm cutting him out of my Will.

Homes have corridors (walkways?) too. Can also place standing lamps at corners of dining/living areas. I like them because I can put a timer on them.

You are very merciful. If he is my grandson, I would have threatened to cut off his "willy".
