Korea has never been more vibrant and exciting. Look at K-pop, its exploding all over the world. Look at the Korean serials...even the Malays are crazy over it. And look at Samsung....it has taken on and in some or most cases bested Apple in many areas. They didn't force their people to drop their language and learn English. They have NS but thats because they have a real threat in the North. Their ladies are amongst the most beautiful in the world. Their men are also admired from afar.

In many cases, Korea has even upstaged Japan. Think we can learn from them a lot of things.

Korea is a lot more than just K pop and Samsung.

NZ is full of Koreans who have exactly the same sentiment about Korea as Sinkies have of their country.. that there is gross income disparity, corruption, intense stress of competition in both school and working life and so on.

Many Kiwis have asked me why I left exciting, vibrant, crime free, orderly, efficient Singapore. They watched F1 yesterday and were in awe of the sinkie skyline, the country's obvious wealth and its ability to attract world class events.

Facades are just that.... a front that hides grimy reality that the majority have to live with.

Exactly my point. Korea is not exactly hugh...landmass and pop just so so. But look at their impact. They are really punching above their weight class in every way. Yes I don't dispute there are poor people in Korea. Maybe they have issue in wealth distribution. But lets not take away their impact and achievements.

I blame it on the weather & geography, have a good look at the world map & notice the countries that are further away from Latitude 0 degrees are more vibrant. If you get one constant weather pattern all year round, life sure feels boring, with the changing of seasons & weather, life tends to be more interesting as you can see & feel the changes of season & time. This will affect your lifestyle, the way you work, the way you live. It's more vibrant, more dynamic, more changes. Someone in F&B business will have food & menus for each season, a clothes manufacturer will have clothes for all 4 seasons. The other extremes are the North & South Poles.

Singapore has the good fortune & legacy of shipping & trade, without that it'll be a hot sweaty place, even too hot to por lumpars without Aircon or fan.
