9. How can a person get help from Medifund?
If a patient or his family has difficulties affording their medical bills, they can approach the Medical Social Workers at the Medifund-approved institutions for assistance.
10. How much help will a patient receive from Medifund?
The actual amount of assistance provided will depend on the patient’s financial and social circumstances, as well as the size of the medical bill incurred.
11. Who decides the quantum of help from Medifund?
Every Medifund-approved institution has a Medifund Committee to consider and approve applications, and decide on the appropriate quantum of assistance to provide. Medifund Committee members are independent volunteers, and most are actively involved in community social work. They are familiar with the needs and problems faced by lower-income Singaporeans, and will adopt a flexible and compassionate approach towards applicants.
12. Will Medifund give greater help to those who contribute to Medisave and who are members of MediShield?
Yes. To encourage a greater sense of personal responsibility, Medifund will provide greater support to those who have contributed regularly to Medisave and who are covered by MediShield, but despite these have run into difficulties.
