Wasnt it LHK who was the Health Minister during SARS? Didnt he screw up badly, and became very very quiet after that when he was transferred?

If LHK is leaving, it must be his own choice. Unlikely to be forced out. LHL needs to be surrounded by 'own people'. Perhaps, LHK knows he will never make it as PM that's why he is stepping down. SARS or No SARS no difference. He lasted so long already. And, if forced out, it is probably from another Lee not LHL.
Lim sits on the board of both GIC and MAS. Too important a person to be dropped from the inner circle right now ....

Agree with you but if it is MM that directs that LHK quit the political scene, I doubt if there is anyone strong enough to resist. LHK can continue in both MAS and GIC. Whether he remains to be in the inner circle will depend on MM. I am pretty sure he will remain but retire from the political scene - loyalty pays.

He has done nothing which is great. Coz if he did anything, the consequences would be severe for everybody. He achieved good pay, good life.
No, he was the minister that gave his support to TT Durai in parliament when one of the NMP raised the issues. He was moved after that as he was not aware his own ministry deputy secretary was driven out of NKF meetings.

LHK was still Minister of Health during SARS. He was total crap. KBW took over the limelight in dealing with it and was promoted Minister of Health.

It's obvious to see that his roles in GIC and MAS are contingent on his role as minister of MTI. If LHK were Minister of Health do you think he'd be on these boards? What the hell would a Minister of Health be doing on the MAS board? The next MTI minister will also be given seats on GIC and MAS, taking over LHK. It's the same reason why Tharman sits on the MAS board. These board seats are not random and are not personality-based. They reflect the importance and relevance of LHK's portfolio, not of LHK himself.
The SARS incident did not damage him. He got someone more able to handle it and he too looked good. The NKF collateral damage is high especially when you look who made the peanut comment.
