For the platform that you are using, are you happy with its performance in terms of responsiveness for trade execution, user-friendliness as well the spread? Currently using one being offered by local brokerage and would like to review options available on the market, both local or overseas.

Using oanda. It's pretty ok to me not that i actually know much about other brokers since i only use this one. It has a sinkie office unlike some others so i suppose calling into their office is easier. The leverage isn't too good though max is set at 50 while other brokers can go as high as 500 which is the max. Then again if you need 500 leverage you're just trading too high with too little capital.

Oanda is a good FX broker. In my opinion, it could be the strongest.

Traders may also consider IG and Saxo.

Avoid FX brokers without Singaporean presence at the moment =)

With the exception of IB

I heard there's a new meta trader software out there. I think it's called mt5. I prefer meta trader compared to my broker's own java trading platform. Some brokers offer their own platforms and so on but i think using meta trader should be the best and my trainer conrad alvin lim told the class they sort of close down the quotes sometimes to trick the traders.

what is this meta trader thing? any good?

You don't know what mt is? Almost any forex user should know what it is. It's the most popular platform out there to trade cos it has all the tools available. What platform do you trade on?

Have think or swim too. It's more for stocks but it can also be used for forex but it's even more complicated than mt4 and if you don't have any money inside your think or swim account the quotes are all 20 mins slower. If you don't trade stocks but just on forex alone think or swim probably shouldn't be used.

Can you explain why one should avoid FX brokers without Singapore presence?

Can the platform or broker cheat you in any way, like bucketing, rigging the forum with great comments, etc, etc...

eh.....you using Oanda also ah...................i picked them as i consider them to be the safest one around...............plus their old platform allow people to trade in units which is great

Definitely Oanda. Used Saxo, IG and IB before, but like Oanda best. MetaTrader lags, so not recommended for scalpers.

Yes oanda allows trading in super small units. Micro lots are also allowed so ppl with less than $100 can trade too.

Oanda's java trading platform is pretty good lots of tools but starts up slow and u need login code if you enabled that on your account but not for mt4 platform. The iPhone app is good too informs me of all trades but too bad lacks tools. The android version sucks though wont beep at all I use mobile mt4 with oanda app on iPhone. Good combination. Oh yes try to trade using a proper desktop especially if you are a newbie cos it has all the tools. Forex can be like playing chess in the sense that they have hundreds of styles and teachers out there.
