the teochew lady serving is the best saleswoman...big bowl of shark's fin with plenty of crab meat...plenty of taugeh...thick shark's fins...then follow with a good bowl of bird's nest...genuine stuff...no faked one....that little corner is still there...opposite is the namsing rest...not so good now...standard drops like shit...the suckling pig used to be very good...but now standard drops but prices shoot up...food also standard drops...the two sides green and orange gangs always fight for customers...
One good seafood stall walk deeper inside chinatown...you got bbq seabass and squid...shiok!...bbq big head prawns lagi shiok!!!...all very fresh and alive!!! Fuji chain of Japanese restaurants in Thailand is authenticably good and reasonably priced. The outlets are located in the most Thai city downtown shopping districts. I've tried those in Bangkok, Phuket and Hatyai. All are up to the same standards.

last time i try fuji ....sorry to say that not up to my standard ...
Sorry to hear that. Perhaps they've also slipped up in standards.
maybe you are too hungry in singapore ? .
its not the matter of expensive or cheap ...if it looks dirty , i really cant put it inside my mouth ( not even cheeby if its dirty )
roadside food always got alot of " fly " flying around , like a F15 airplane ...dam scary . later the "plane " drop some "bomb " or commit kamikaze , how sia ?
It's not advisable to try roadside stalls if you've grown up in a hypercrhoniacally hygenic environment. You'd lack the the immunities. The Thais who grown up in roadside and riverside environments have developed the immunities, no problem for them, even to drink from the Chao Phraya. If a young Singaporean drink from the Chao Phraya, s/he'd be problably visiting the toilet, clinic or hospital next.
well said ...clap clap ...by the way , i grow up n singapore .
ps: my wife always lau sia when eating oyster egg when she is in singapore ...but she love oyster egg :(
Singapore fried oyster omelette or oh-luak is no match for the Thai version, trust me. When in Thailand, look and ask for hoi-thot.
