Serious What's The Difference Between Smart And Clever?

The smartest people are those who realize the earliest that LKY is not their father.

Smart people know from the very start that Old Man is not their father. They become clever when they know when to acknowldge him as their father. Clever is a function of need. People including smart ones do not do clever things when there is no need. NS is one good example when clever things are done often by most people from recruit to and Officer.

You must be confused between cunning and clever.

Actually an idiot would know who his father is straightaway let alone a smart person.

Cunning is more in the negative spectrum and would involve some modicum of deception, deceit or shenanigans of sorts. Clever is in the white space and action taken is considered novel, innovative or creative with no risk to anyone and win for some. And not necessarily involves a smart person. Clever is taken as a compliment but not necessarily in the case of cunning.

Then again you have the English language and its nuances which tend change with time and usage.

Hope it provides clarity to some extent rather than confusion.

This means that those chaps who queued for hours to "cry and show their gratitude" are not exactly the smartest around. :p

Anyone who is in a queue for hours voluntarily for whatever reason, is likely to be neither smart nor clever.

For example, queueing half an hour for a nasi lemak burger. :p

You should be thankful that they don't start fighting over hello kitty toys after being in a queue for hours.

They should start a program with Marvel toys. Sure to be a big hit but may result in people getting hit. :p

There's nothing smart or clever about being in a queue for hours to get toys, and even less so if you start fighting over them.

Someone once said:"Sometimes, you have to look stupid in order to do something smart." :p

Who is the someone who said that? Don't tell me it's that LHL, unlikely as it may seem.

Saw the trailer and an episode of the new MacGyver. The character can certainly be deemed to be smart and clever.

He is also the master of innovation and improvisation. :p

Sealing a leak with chewing gum is a clear sign of his ability to innovate and improvise. One of the reasons why chewing gum should be allowed in Singapore.

Another reason is that chewing gum is good for strengthening the jaw muscles. :p
