What has Chee Soon Juan done to hurt Singaporeons individually or collectively.

Wao you seem to know alot...but that is good for everyone to know about the fact. Why Chiam did not speak about it. He must clear his name.

He did. In the High Court! And he won.

And the reCHEEme of the MONGREL who bit his masteers' hands LOUDHAILER chee soon juan lost.

And the then cornies of the reCHEEMe Ling Haw Doong and Cheo Chai Chen lost their seats forever.

Cheo Chai Chen finally left the SDP to join Chiam's SDA, now independent NSP.

Ling left the SDP.

But too late. THREE minus THREE equals ZERO but in the eyes of the MONGREL who bit his masteers' hands LOUDHAILER chee soon juan and his bankrupt reCHEEme, ZERO is greater than THREE.

This i have to add in to disagree.

popular support has nothing to do with luck. JBJ must have done something right whereas chee had done something wrong for the result to be what it is.

You need to examine the set of different circumstances different political parties and their candidates are in to better appreciate the external forces acting on them.

Hardwork, intelligence, street smart, perseverance etc aside, there is always this element of 'luck' playing a part in our lives, whether you like it or not.

to even suggest "luck" is to me like u r going for exam, didnt study for it and yet pass it, claiming luck with on ur side as u have "bullshit" ur answer throught. but had one study harder, they wont need "luck" and could rely on just their own quality to pull through.

External circumstances are mostly more favourable to PAP candidates and they would normally win unless they are damn 'suay'.

JBJ didnt depend on luck to win, he won because the populat vote was with him, so does the rest of the winners.

Not that JBJ depended solely on luck to win, but he was lucky in the sense that in Anson, there was mishandling by PAP on PSA workers issues which had led to a groundswell of unhappiness. JBJ fought tooth and nail to a well deserve victory, in the process breaking PAP's absolute monopoly of Parliament.

CSJ in the first place has not achieved what JBJ, CST and LTK did. A Parliament seat.
Look at the last election and see how SDP performance compared with other oppositions.
Statistics don't lie. Chee is in a state of Chin Kang Kor.

Without a parliamentary seat, Chee and SDP have advanced the cause of opposition more than those elected opposition.

Stop making excuses.

JBJ won a seat in the face of adversity.

CST won a seat in the face of adversity.

CST won two more seats in the face of adversity while JBJ won one more (in Hougang) even when he couldn't contest.

JBJ also won two NCMP seats.

Steve Chia won one NCMP seat.

LTK won one NCMP seat in addition to his own.

The MONGREL who bit his masters' hands LOUDHAILER chee soon juan? Under the same rules, the same adversity, he LOST THRE minus THREE equals ZERO seats. I repeat, THREE minus THREE eqals ZERO seats.

So stop makikng excuses for the MONGREL who bit his masters' hands LOUDHAILER chee soon juan. Or to quote his former crony who lost his seat and wears a wig, DON'T TALK COCK.

Under the mathematical laws of the MONGREL who bit his masters' hands LOUDHAILER chee soon juan and the followers of this SDP reCHEEme, ZERO is greater than THREE since they think the reCHEEme's ZERO seats is greater than Chiam's THREE seats.

All seats in the rubber stamp parliament is decided by fascist Lee Kuan Yew. LKY"s parliament is a joke, a place for a few part-time MPs to take their afternoon nap. There is hardly any quorum, let alone any debate.

In a fascist dictatorship elections are a big farce, a humbug to "fix" the opposition and "engineer" the results; and parliament is a charade.

The fact that in the span of 25 years since 1981 when JBJ first won in the Anson by-election, there were so few constituency election victories for opposition despite qualified candidates tells you that it is not just sheer grit, intelligence, political shrewness etc alone that determine election outcome under a tilted political system, but an element of 'luck' which in some way plays a part in those rare electoral victories of opposition candidates.

Well, the SDP reCHEEme never even won an NCMP seat. In fact, they came furthest from it. So they are not even the most popular among the opposition candidates.

Just a recollection how JBJ won the Anson seat. Nair had to vacate the seat to become
President. Singaporeans' prayers had been answered for the 1st opposition since 1968.

JBJ won in a single seat in 1981 and again increased his majority in the same place in 1984.

The result: Disappearance of his constituency and creation of the GRC fraud in 1988. Subsequently, gerrymandering became rampant, denying more and more voters of their right to vote at every election.

JBJ was also subjected to a series of mistrials in LKY's kangaroo courts with offences that he did not commit, resulting in him thrown out of LKY's private harem called parliament to which the opposition leader was elected by the people.

Why must a dept taking orders from the PAP conduct "elections" to "fix" the opposition and "engineer" the results?

Why no by-elections in single seat constituencies since the humiliating defeat of the PAP in Anson in 1981?

Why control the entire mainstream media with a former deputy prime minister as its head with ISD operatives masquerading as reporters, journalists?

Since the late 1980s, parliament has become a big joke where part-timers go to take their afternoon nap in air-conditioned comfort at taxpayers' expense.

There's no debate but only reading of prepared texts by the few who are either bothered or forced to go there.

Why not have an independent elections commission responsible for holding free and fair elections with a free and pluralistic media to let the people know of alternative views and programmes?

In any dictatorship, elections are just a farce, a humbug and Singapore under the Lee regime for the past 50 years is no exception.

it would be a sad thing that maybe 20 or 30 years later, he ends up as JBJ II.

pondan karma already bounce

There's an element of luck then. JBJ was there at the right place, right time.

How many percent can be attributed to luck? Have you considered how much effort he has put in over the years?

A small percentage. It happened that the by-election occurred on the fringe of his targetted constituency Telok Blangah.

What kind of warped logic is this? Where is the supposed "luck" just because a by election was called? Applying your same warped logic, then Dr Chee would also have had the same "luck" when a by election was called in 1992. But what happened there was that Dr Chee and his team were trounced by the PAPs. And note this was just after PAP had lost the most number of seats in a GE in 1991, with SDP gaining 3 seats.

The by-election in 1992 was held in Marine Parade GRC, helmed by the then Prime Minister Goh Chok Tong, who is very popular with S'poreans. Marine Parade GRC is a super strong fortress of PAP.

SDP under Chiam contested that GRC, which I believe was for introducing Chee to the public and for him to gain some political exposure.

Hardwork alone is not enough when contesting against PAP. There are many variables which are beyond our control and for the opposition candidates, they can only hope that some of the external forces will turn out to be favourable to them.
