What happen to Lee Hsien Yang?

Knew lhl had 2 personal bodyguards to shadow him 24/7 when he was in the army.
Did not recall lhy having any though...anyone can confirm?

"mee siam mai hum"...was driven to camp, the driver park the car outside or the car park....& stay & eat in camp...till office hours is over & then the 'boss' is driven home....do not recall seeing 'boss' at night training..but the cookhouse food was damn good & security was NUMBER ONE! hmmmm

Let look at KMT after run road from mainland. Some loyal generals stay put in taiwan, Soong May-Ling stays and died in USA.

Just wondering .... what would happen to all these pappies like him after WP or other oppo parties toppled the pappy Govt? Would they still stay around to sink or swim with this country or run road?

wah, that's unusual, and that was during your NS days? not normal for a 2Lt to be posted to HQ SIB. But I might be wrong. quite long ago.

I enlisted in Dec 1975, same time as LHY (not LHL), but not scholars platoon.

Amour chief during my time was Patrick Choy....the O levels general with signature hairy mole.
There was no 42 then....as already stand down many years.
Lhy's CO in 40SAR was Ralph Pattison.
Incidently there was an infamous saf regular by the name of Lee Kuan Yew serving there during that time.....that chap became the butt of many jokes.

I remember Ralph, who I believe was one of the instructors when I attended SATO.

Really? A lot of ex SAF armour officers in Canada now. I know of one 46 SAR AI officer and S3, and also one OCS armour sword winner, both in canada.

small world.

LTC Jimmy Yap, then CO of OCS, has been in Vancouver after he retired from the SAF.
He was a LTA, instructor, for the first batch of OCS.
When I picked up 2 autographed copies of the book "One of a Kind" published by the first batch officers, during my visit to SG, and my meeting with one of those first batch NSF Captains (3 yrs service), I send a copy to Jimmy Yap, upon my return to Toronto.

Do you know an Armour Officer, MAJ Syed Ibrahim (local LTC when he was Defence Attache at the Singapore Embassy in Jakarta)?
Major Syed Ibrahim gave me the nickname "Colonel" during the debrief after an exercise, during my reservist days.
He is a typical "British officer and gentleman". If he has chosen to go with the RMAF, I am sure, he like his "colleagues", would be a general before he retired.
Very few "Malay or Arab" SAF Armour officers.

It was LHY. Gil Barker was in Melbourne then.

Andrea Gillian Patricia Barker was our year (batch at school).
She attended at St. Margaret School.
She was very attractive and shapely as an 18 year old, and when she was in her 30's.
I am sure LHY would find her alluring.

wah, nice to have a father with political power, even suggest pigs can fly all COs also approved and implemented it. Truly it was an established Leegime from the early stage of PAP.

May be, but no that "stretched"

Wah, that was late 70s early 80s than. Patrick Choy was already a LTC when he was in charge of ATC at Selarang Barracks. Than got promoted to full bird Col to become Chief of armour. Right? I think Colin Thesiera took over for him. I can't remember whether Patrick Choy was one of the original camels. But Colin was. These were the almost last batch of professional soldiers before the scholar generals and Cols started taking over all their positions.

Sir, or brother, you may have mixed up "than" vs "then" For example:

Then he was promoted to Colonel .....

As a Colonel, he was more "garang" than the previous Chief of Armour ....

Your memory failed you, LHL enlisted 1973 SBMT in 4SIR Bedok.

LHL probably not in 1973, because he was first batch SAFOS, same as BTH, who may be 4 years my senior.
That means, LHL enlisted in 1971 ?

Lky should usher him into the political arena to strengthen the lee dynasty's grip on power

Dangle LHY from lamp post with piano wire as well

All the spawn of that smear of shit on sole of shoe LKY will dangle from lamp posts once LKY become a rotting corpse
Or those spawns will have addition arseholes hooted into them by PAP now smiling smiling nodding nodding heads but sharpening sharp sharp knives.

I remember Ralph, who I believe was one of the instructors when I attended SATO.

Poor Ralph was sidelined for promotion because his wife was Malay.
Later years he was posted out to CPC in cable car towers supposedly to see out his retirement as a major.
Mind you it was a big change from his CO appt as his massive 40SAR office now became a tiny desk in a common hall.
After LHY moved up the ranks in MINDEF, he gave his former boss a new lease of life as CO RATC and a badly overdued promotion to LTC.
