What happen to Lee Hsien Yang?

CO Raymond 'something' was in 4SAB, were you there at that time?

Really? A lot of ex SAF armour officers in Canada now. I know of one 46 SAR AI officer and S3, and also one OCS armour sword winner, both in canada.

Ifi I did not remember wrongly, LHY was CO of 40SAR for a short while ard 1982 . I think less than a year before posted out again? Still a Major then.

He fit? U did not seen him during IPPT I supposed?

Ok, I checked around and asked some of my old armour kakis. I guessed rightly. Hsien Yang was never CO of 40 SAR. When he was at 40 SAR, he was holding rank of Capt. and he was OC for Alpha company. His CO at the time was LTC Ralph Pattison. His first CO appt was 46.

When lhy was OC in 40 he had many suggestions and ideas....
CO maj pattison and mindef approved and implemented every single one of them.

wah, nice to have a father with political power, even suggest pigs can fly all COs also approved and implemented it. Truly it was an established Leegime from the early stage of PAP.

Amour chief during my time was Patrick Choy....the O levels general with signature hairy mole.
There was no 42 then....as already stand down many years.
Lhy's CO in 40SAR was Ralph Pattison.
Incidently there was an infamous saf regular by the name of Lee Kuan Yew serving there during that time.....that chap became the butt of many jokes.

Wah, that was late 70s early 80s than. Patrick Choy was already a LTC when he was in charge of ATC at Selarang Barracks. Than got promoted to full bird Col to become Chief of armour. Right? I think Colin Thesiera took over for him. I can't remember whether Patrick Choy was one of the original camels. But Colin was. These were the almost last batch of professional soldiers before the scholar generals and Cols started taking over all their positions.

I have an even better story. when Hsien Yang was an OCS cadet on course in School of Armour taking the TOCC, it was suggested that he had to get a full night's sleep every night. therefore, the idea was that all training must stop by 9 something, and that cadet Lee must be in bed and lights out by 10pm. Do you think this suggestion was implemented or not? LOL.

Someone in Singel spotted him and was forced to keep quiet. Later he "resigned".

Not aware if this. But wont shock me if he chiongs such places. Sugar king's half bro ran Mechinta.

The Lee family owns a huge percentage of F&N shares.
Hence after he got booted out from SingTel, he got hold of a high post (using his daddy's relationship) there to seek shelter
while contributing nothing much but still collecting director's fees every month.
Then came one day when a Thai tycoon bought over majority of F&N shares, he was booted out completely.

U must have been really lau chio armour. the practice of AMX-13 running on the main road stopped when I was there. All AMX-13 was low loaded to area D when i was there. i was one of those responsible, for reducing the cost of the transportation. that's why I know Peck Tiong Chun company, and other companies that bid on the SAF low loader contract. The AMX-13 steel tracks were too slippery on the asphalt road, especially in rainy weather, and hence the stopping distance too long. a few accidents happened when AMX-13 collided with civilian vehicles. No points for guessing which party won. After one incident when the AMX-13 driver could not stop in time and rammed his 75mm gun into the back of the SBS bus, all AMX-13s were banned from public roads. But now, Keat Hong camp is demolished, so no more issues like this. LOL. But its no fun to be brigade DO and kenna called out to view yet another tank versus car battle on either CCK or LCK. :-)

This is so funny!! Yeah I heard stories about SAF tanks road accidents. Not in amour though.

more funny things with the stupid AMX 13 WW2 tanks, flipped over and landed upside down during training, slide down sloppy terrains.

SAF got standard? Give a zero.

Tank caught fire and M113 bloody hot inside. Imagine >10 soldiers inside one M113 cabin ton pang AI solider inside.

Patrick Choy took over from Colin T....Colin became MINDEF spokesman.
Patrick got his star and moved to division commander before retiring to become Bionix salesman.
Din know Patrick was in ATC....knew he was the first 8 SAB commander when he was LTC.

Old man always got field report from Security Branch and thus son refused cover. Son thus could go to Merchinta with Army buddies. When he became CEO of Singtel, old man found about his yellow ferrari hidden in the basement of Singtel HQ. Called dealer and sale man who sold the car to see him personally with spare key. Saleman and dealer got screwing of their life. Car to be taken away, money minus expenses and depreciation to be returned.

Thus the reason son used to fly to Perth for the weekend.

He had one. He seemed a pretty humble guy. Before becoming a staff officer, he drove his small old Honda.

I have double confirmed this info.
From his recruit time....2 security officers shadow him 24/7.....those in his cohort or worked with him during his saf days will be able to verify this.

You knew CO Raymond Tan in 4SAB?
I cant recall any Raymond Tan....but then I disrupted for studies so missed a gap of few years.

Brw are the black berets still champions in boxing?
I used to box too and amour formation was the best....even commandos also beaten to a pulp by us.
