The most usefless person must surely be Mrs Yu-Fu Yee Shoon. She has seen 5 elections, been there for 23 years, only job is NTUC and political appointment. Has never done anthing except recite the PAP policies by rote. I actually set on a committee(nothing to do with politics) with her as she was appointed by the Govt for a year but can't recall her saying anything.

No wonder Lily Neo exploded.

Now you know why Mrs Yoohoo is a perfect candidate to keep her job (and her pay) for 23 years and more? She does not make waves nor rock the boat. She was chosen over tea for this exceptional quality like many similarly "cat-cut-your tongue" other MPs.

On the other hand, Dr Lily Neo who does her job well has her days numbered.

The arrogance of ruling parties are exposed almost quite obviously in recent years. This is a very unhealthy and worrying trend. Peasants must know there is pressing needs to have at least half of opposition members in parliament and the speaker should not be PAP members. I hope opposition parties can start closing rank and share resources. For the first time in history they are on the winning side of the political situation in Singapore now.

Now consider if she really understands the plight of the poor and needy?

If she does...then she is a saint.

Well, if she had worked her way up, and had some luck in getting a good husband, then we cannot blame her for that. After all, its part of what we call the Singapore Dream.

Working hard, getting opportunities to soar and having good luck are not stuff that's wrong. Ordinary people want them as well. It's just that the system should be tweaked much more so that more people of humble backgrounds will be able to find opportunities, to break the ceilings and become successful.

There's no rule, after all, to say that a son of a plumber cannot be a successful doctor or businessman when the son's a full adult. In other countries, it has happened because there's no such rule. In Singapore, its a different matter.
