Yes there were unconfirmed reports that one was beheaded and 2 tortured before they were killed.

The Suluk militants performing beheading and torture, that is just plain wrong. For the sake of what? revenge? satisfaction? nothing warrants such actions. The least they could do is to ensure a clean fast death, for we are all humans.

And yet, they ask for tolerance? The Malaysians are greatly upset with such atrocity and they are baying for more punishment for the Suluks. There will be revenge killings in future from the Malaysians who will not forget.

The Opposition is also taking advantage of the situation by politicising the incident.. Pressure increasing on Najib..

I think this time the KL Govt won't offer any more olive branch to these Sulu Loonies..

The attacks will intensify.. The longer the situation drags, the more it will damaging it will be for Najib and the BN especially with the GE looming....

There is simmering anger among the security personnel to see their comrades killed this way..

The Malaysian Police Chief so far is keeping mum on the allegations of atrocities committed by the Sulus.. He claimed he has yet to see the post mortem reports of the dead policemen..

And by the way, the beheading incident was reported by the Utusan, a paper that has strong links to the BN..

The situation around Tanjung Labian, about 7km away from Tanduo village in Felda Village 17 was tense as more than 300 villagers huddled in a community hall kept hearing the explosions.

Latest from Malaysia..

Below is the statement by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak on the Lahad Datu incident.

Since the intrusion by a group of gunmen in Lahad Datu on Feb 12, the government has taken an approach to resolve the conflict without any bloodshed.
The police have arranged for meetings and discussions hoping that the intruders would agree to leave peacefully without facing serious action.

However, as the intrusion prolonged, it was clear that the intruders had no intention to leave Sabah. Last Friday, they fired shots at policemen on duty causing the deaths of two officers and one day later, another six policemen were killed by intruders in Semporna.

After the first attack, I have reaffirmed that the intruders must surrender or we will act.

As an Islamic country that loves peace and uphold the struggle to end conflicts through negotiations, our effort to prevent bloodshed in Lahad Datu failed. Our security forces were attacked and our men killed. Malaysians, especially in Sabah, are worried for their safety.

The government must take action to defend the country's dignity and sovereignty as demanded by the people.

At 7am this morning, our security forces have launched an attack (on the intruders) in Kampung Tanduo

lianbeng giving them standing ovation and a round of applause: they use budget airline leh! we still using C130?

It's normal to use civil transport when the need to move troops in the most efficient way possible. Singapore too has use buses to move large groups of armed forces personnel.

In the event of war, all civil transport and equipment are subject to mobilisation, we all should know this.

Sulu Army and election, coincidence or conspiracy?
Lahad Datu standoff Opinion 2013-03-04 14:34
By TAY TIAN YAN
Translated by SOONG PHUI JEE
Sin Chew Daily

I would like to mourn for the brave fallen policemen. They lost their lives to defend the territorial integrity of the country, as well as to maintain the dignity of Malaysia. They should be given the respect and gratitude of the people.

The incident also caused us to ponder that any conflicts and wars will cost both the confronting sides a bloody price.

Before this, there were voices asking for wars. They accused the authorities of acting too cowardly and demanded an annihilation to show the intruders some colours.

Today, the people can see not only colours, but the color of blood. And lives are sacrificed.

I wonder what would those who shouted that war was the only solution think now after the standoff turned deadly.

I still insist that war is not the only way, nor the best solution.

There is no doubt that Sabah is part of Malaysia. However, the territorial controversy which has long entangled Sabah and the Sulu Sultanate is a historical problem. The remaining Sulu Sultanate and Sulu descendents are still having a deep affection for Sabah and thus, the issue must be resolved peacefully.

The Sulu Army's invasion of Lahad Datu was not a hasty idea, but a well-prepared plan backed by a force. Moreover, it can hardly say whether they are receiving assistance from some people in Sabah.

In addition, why does it take place at this sensitive time when Malaysia is facing a general election, in which Sabah is one of the crucial states?

A few days ago when I was talking with a politician and mentioned about the standoff in Lahad Datu, he suddenly said, "Let's think about it! What impacts would it bring if it evolves into a bloody conflict?"

"There are more than 500,000 Filipino immigrants in Sabah, including legal and illegal ones. How many of them are descendents of the Sulu Sultanate?"

"Once they open fire and kill some members of Sulu Army, what would the Sulu descendents in Sabah think when they see the corpses covered in blood?"

I got goose bumps when I heard it.

Is it a coincidence or conspiracy to have the standoff when the country is about to hold a general election?

I do not want to judge on it and would rather want it to be a coincidence, instead of a political ploy. Otherwise, the problem will be more complicated, more difficult to solve and bring greater harm.

Although we hide the question in our hearts, some Malay newspapers have quoted some blogs that quoted the Philippine media claiming that delegates of a Malaysian political leader had visited and talked to leaders of the Sulu Sultanate.

The political flavour is strong and Opposition leader Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has instantly denied the allegation.

At the same time, PKR vice-president Tian Chua claimed that the BN is behind it. Of course, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak has also denied it.

I do not believe in any similar accusations. However, it can hardly be denied that the standoff in Sabah has been infected by some political colours.

LHL would have tax them to hell!
MOM would have offered cheaper FTs to supplement their dwindling force!
LTY would have offered them first class transportation that breaks down!
SPH could help them voice their unhappiness!
