Do we have Singapore's equivalent? These are forces that have seen action and perform several operations and now they are in Lahad Datu to remove the invaders from Sulu, Philippines.

thank you. may also explain why najib is almost 100% compliant to sg's wishes. inner circle in sg knows more about the case than many of their peers in mal.

There have been rumours for a long time that evidence of Najib/Mongolian girl's stay at Oriental Hotel is available.

I was under the impression it was the Pan Pacific? When a Deputy Prime Minister of a neighbouring is in town on a private visit, you think ISD or SC would not be there to make sure of their safety?

MNLF men on alert as Sabah deadline nears

By Jaime Laude (philstar.com) | Updated February 26, 2013 - 5:53pm

MANILA, Philippines - The Moro National Liberation Front (MNLF) has alerted placed all its fighters in Basilan, Sulu and Tawi-Tawi as tension mounted between the 235 followers of Sultan Jamalul Kiram III and Malaysian security forces in Lahad, Sabah.

Relatedly, the Malaysian national government, has taken over from the Sabah prefectorate the lead role in resolving the almost three-week long Lahad Datu crisis as the extended deadline for the followers of Sulu Sultanate to leave and return peacefully to the Philippines is about to lapse.

The deadlines was set at Tuesday night.

“Wait and see kami. Our forces in Sulu, Tawi-Tawi, Basilan and its islands are in full red alert and ready once the situation (in Lahad Datu) worsen,” Haji Gapul Hajirul, MNLF political officer said.

The MNLF, through Hajirul, issued this statement after the group adopted a resolution of the Sultanate of Sulu calling on the United Nations to send a peacekeeping force to Sabah to prevent bloodshed between the Sultanate forces and the Malaysian authorities.

Hajirul also bared that armed civilians in Sulu and Tawi-Tawi are very eager to enter Sabah to support the Sultan’s followers.
Headlines ( Article MRec ), pagematch: 1, sectionmatch: 1

This confirmed earlier ground monitoring by intelligence sources that groups of armed Tausogs have assembled in several areas, waiting for an opportunity to enter Sabah. These civilians reportedly are relatives of the sultanate's men now holed up in a shoreline village in Lahad Datu.

“The only thing that prevents these armed civilian groups from swarming to Sabah is the naval blockade being enforced by the Philippine Navy (PN),” a source from Sulu said.

At least six naval gunboats are currently imposing the naval blockade the prevent undocumented Filipinos from going to Sabah due to the prevailing security situation in Sabah.

The MNLF, meanwhile, said taht President Aquino's statement warning Sultan Jamalul Kiram III may have aggravated the situation.

“By the action shown by PNoy, it’s far from the peaceful solution. Siya ang dapat makasuhan dahil ipinagbili na niya ang Pilipinas,” Hajirul said.

Kiram thanks PNoy

Kiram, meanwhile, said that he is thankful for Aquino's concern for him.

“For the first time, we thank the President for his official pronouncement on the standoff in Sabah and we are happy that he is officially aware of the issue now. You will note that emissaries sent to us have been denied by Malacanang in the first four days of the issue and that those emissaries sent were not diplomatic people but rather political and military officials,” the Sultan said in a press statement.

He added: “Mr. President what more proof do you want us to show that Sabah is ours? By the mere fact that Malaysia is paying us annually in the amount of 5,300 Malaysia ringgit, it is not enough?”

He said that aside from the late President Diosdado Macapagal, the late strongman, Ferdinand Marcos, has in fact solicited the authority from the Sultan of Sulu and also given the special power of attorney to pursue the claim.

This, the Sultan said, erases doubts on the diplomatic recognition of the Philippine government to the Sultanate of Sulu as the rightrul owner of North Borneo.

He also stressed that he has not committed any crime when he permitted his brother, Raja Muda Agbimuddin Kiram, to enter Lahad Datu with armed security men.

“History proves that the Sultan of Sulu has never been involved in any violence in its quest for justice. As far as we are concerned we havent’ committed a crime,” the Sultan said, adding that the action is a benevolent aspiration and not a violent reaction to fight for what is historically, legally and morally right.

MNLF warns of civil war in Sabah, Sulu rebels say standoff remains

UPDATED @ 04:58:13 PM 02-03-2013

By Ida Lim
March 02, 2013

KUALA LUMPUR, March 2 — The Lahad Datu standoff could widen into a civil war engulfing Sabah, a Philippine separatist leader has warned as a Muslim rebel army moved to entrench itself in the Borneo state.

A Filipino rebel group, believed to number over 100 armed men, has refused to drop their ownership on Sabah — now part of Malaysia — and has sworn to fight on even as the Philippines Foreign Department declared the weeks-long standoff against Malaysian security forces over following a shootout that killed 15 men and hurt three others.

“I am afraid there will be a civil war in Sabah because thousands of Bangsamoro are residing in Sabah,” Gapul Hajirul, political chief of the Moro National Liberation Front (MNLF), was reported as saying today by the Philippine Star news portal.

“It’s only MNLF chairman Nur (Misuari) who could decide on the matter. Whatever his decision, we will follow.

“Our Tausug brothers and sisters of Sulu and the Samals in Tawi-Tawi were saddened and are hurting by the turn of the events,” he was quoted as saying.

More than 8,500 Filipinos, mostly Tausugs or Suluk tribesmen, are residing in Sabah and are potential supporters of the Sultanate of Sulu, the news portal reported.

The rebel Sulu army, led by Agbimuddin Kiram, has also refused to quit Sabah despite appeals from both Manila and Putrajaya, declaring the standoff far from over even after losing 12 men in a crossfire with Malaysian police yesterday.

“No, the standoff is not over, unless there’s a concrete understanding or agreement that can be reached by the three parties,” Abraham Idjirani, a spokesman for the group, was quoted as saying by Philippine news portal Inquirer in Manila.

“Our stand is the same. Rajah Mudah (Crown Prince) Agbimuddin Kiram will stay put in the area to discipline [our followers]. But if the Malaysians will attack, they will do the same,” he said.

But Idjirani said the group was still open to peace, saying: “The sultan is still open (to talks) because our advocacy is still peace.”

The Star today reported Idjirani as saying that the Sultanate of Sulu wants a ceasefire so that their men can bury those who had died in the gunfight yesterday.

“Malaysia is a Muslim nation so they should understand that we need to bury our dead,” he said in a phone interview with the Malaysian daily, adding that he hoped Malaysia would “reconsider its position.”

The English-language daily also reported Sabah Police Commissioner Datuk Hamza Taib as dismissing rumours that armed men from the southern Philippines were coming in to the state to bolster the rebel group.

“We have checked and found the reports to be untrue. Our security at the sea border is tight and our operations are continuing,” Hamza said yesterday evening at a media briefing.

He said that the Sulu rebels were now cornered within a smaller area, adding that it was believed that none of them had escaped the police cordon.

Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak yesterday said the rebels should surrender or face the consequences, saying that full powers had been given to the Inspector-General of Police and the Armed Forces Chief to resolve the matter.

About 180 Filipino rebels, including 30 gunmen, invaded Sabah on February 9 and had refused to leave before yesterday’s fatal shootout, despite pleas from the Malaysian and Philippine governments.

Philippine Foreign Affairs secretary Albert Del Rosario reportedly requested yesterday for full access to the rebel group so that the Philippine government can provide medical treatment and consular assistance.

The Philippine Daily Inquirer yesterday quoted Free Radio Sarawak as saying that the Felda Sahabat 17 oil palm plantation near Kampung Tanduo, where the rebels have been holed up, was filled with an “uncanny silence”.

Lahad Datu, which is about 130km away from the battle site, was also described as a “ghost town’, with all shops in the town centre closed as army patrols moved about, with some standing guard at schools and the district hospital.

The armed group, suspected of being a faction of a Philippine Muslim rebel group, claims to belong to the “royal army” of the Sulu sultanate.

The bizarre drama had threatened to stir tension between Southeast Asian neighbours Malaysia and the Philippines, whose ties have been periodically frayed by security and migration problems caused by a porous sea border.

News wire Reuters has reported that Malaysia pays a token sum to the Sultanate of Sulu each year for the “rental” of Sabah — an arrangement that stretches back to British colonial times.

There was a report of another ambushed by the militants in a town 150 kms from Lahad Datu.

From the look of it, a civil war in Sabah is on the card.

From the look of it, a civil war in Sabah is on the card.

The picture is quite hazy atm. The reported number of Filipinos working in Sabah stands at 800,000. In the past the Malaysians had issued more than a million or so blue ic's Filipino-Muslims to dilute the majority Christian population.

Perhaps this is karma.

Hearing on bid to review decision on Razak Baginda fixed for July 8

SHAH ALAM: The hearing of an attempt by the family of Mongolian murder victim Altantuya Shaariibuu to review the Attorney-General’s (AG) decision not to appeal against the acquittal of political analyst Abdul Razak Abdullah Baginda has been postponed to July 8.

Judicial Commissioner Datuk Noraini Abdul Rahman fixed the new date yesterday after meeting counsel Sangeet Kaur Deo for Altantuya’s father Shaariibuu Setev, Abdul Razak’s counsel Wong Kian Kheong and senior federal counsel Datuk Kamaludin Mohd Said in chambers.

Shaariibuu filed for judicial review on Dec 21, 2008 naming Abdul Razak and AG Tan Sri Abdul Gani Patail as defendants.

Shaariibuu’s application for leave was initially fixed for mention yesterday.

Met later, Sangeet said Shaariibuu’s lead counsel Karpal Singh had sought a postponement for more time to file a reply to Abdul Razak’s submissions.

Sangeet also said Karpal was attending to another matter at the Federal Court yesterday.

The Shah Alam High Court acquitted Abdul Razak without calling for his defence on Oct 31, 2008. Abdul Razak was earlier charged with abetting two Special Action Squad officers in Altantuya’s murder.

The High Court on April 7 found the two officers, Chief Inspector Azilah Hadri and Corporal Sirul Azhar Umar, guilty of murdering Altantuya at Puncak Alam near here between 10pm on Oct 19 and 1am on Oct 20, 2006.

Kamaludin said the AG was objecting to Shaariibuu’s application on the grounds that the AG’s decision was non-justiciable.

“We say that (a decision on) whether to appeal or not is the AG’s prerogative granted under Article 145 of the Federal Constitution,” Kamaludin said.

Shaariibuu has also filed a civil suit against the Malaysian government, Abdul Razak and the two police officers, seeking RM100 million in damages for Altantuya’s death.

Kamaludin said the AG has filed an application requesting Shaariibuu to deposit RM1 million as security for costs before the hearing proceeds in July.

Nt much info on this m&d and pinoy fight.
so cant tell much, But how come all this specops have unusual names:

Vat 69 (nominally muslim cuntry, but vat69 is whisky and we all know what 69 stands for)
(and yes I know VAT is Very Able Trooper)

sg:
spear, dart, star. - some drunk guy in a pub named them?

US:
seal - seal, wtf?

ha ha. what a stupid joke. I met some of these troopers before and they are defintely world class unlike sinks with stupid names like SPEAR or DART. FYI VAT69 was formed by SAS during the commies era and the guy head commando was a scot who loves his whisky nad his fav brand was VAT 69 and since it was 1969 he name the new commando as Vat69. widely credited with subversive actions in 1970s against commies in bentong and have seen real action before against terrorist and highly dangerous criminals. unit was responsible for arresting Anwar ibrahim and recently Mat salamat in JB. those old enough knows VAT 69 was a premium whisky in those days in Malaysia and singapore, better than johnnie walker or glenfiddich or the Famous Grouse (which they aklso like to drink). comparable to SAS or Navy Seals.
Not surppised they killed 14 pinoys idiots against 2 police commando form another unit. definitely no fight and stupid Pinoys asking for hell literally. UTK is another unit but not so famous. most recruuited from other units. bodyguard fr VIP from this unit. those in arm forces knowwhat I am talking about.
