I seem to notice this but in the US a guy can look tough, be polite and nice and still be a gangster but in sg it's different. To be considered a good gangster in sg the person has to look very mean and very ugly with a damn ugly pocked marked face with a nasty attitude and demeanour.

Why is this so?

In Sinkieland, the biggest gangsters are equally polite, tough, professional and nice - and they dressed in all white!

Nowadays, godfather wears turban and godson wears mask. :D

It's the mentality that counts, not the look.

True but sg gangsters always only seem to appear that way.

It's like if you're not ugly, mean looking or rude etc you're just not a tough gangster in sg's context.

Gangsters in Singapore are all wearing white uniforms.

They are only tough when they are protected by lots of police within few feet.

The rest of the time they are completely useless pussies. The more you fuck them the wetter they will be for you.;)

and they're sometimes called "lawyers", "bankers", "industry leaders" and "professional execs".

it is just the tough guy trying to look cute and the ah beng trying to look mean & cool. I remember bringing a NSmen to a police station many years back and this mean looking chap , with dyed blond hair , tattoo all over his arms , shirt unbuttoned , gold chain hanging around the neck, he entered the room with a police corporal. I was thinking , shit , another gangster in detention but he turned out to be the CID interviewing my NSmen. Look is deceiving. Now who is the mean looking gangster ?

I heard many stories of CID acting and looking like gangsters even amongst their own kind or to members of the public whom aren't gangsters.

Is this a case of taking your act too literally?

it's just like an actor actually behaving like a policeman or a gangster even after the camera is away from him. It's kind of stupid for a CID officer to behave like that.

Btw I suppose those tattos of that officer are real therefore if a police cadet choses to join CID and go to SS division he would need to get tattoos, uglify his face with a permanent mean look and put on other gangster accessories before he can join? He would probably fit in with the gangsters but what would his family think? In fact for some of these CID officers they actually bring their act home.

I wonder if ekin cheng still acted like a gangster even after filming for the young and dangerous series wrapped.

Because they are more civilized and have better social skills than you rubbish?
