Don't understand the "independent of political appointments" bit. Cotton Chan, his predecessor was transferred from political appointment to NTUC and then back to political appointment. This brother was in the PM's office no less? How can that be independent?

Was this Brother also paid for his job in NTUC in addition to his ministerial salary? Good to know.

We all know that NTUC is not independent of PAP. NTUC is PAP! If you aren't a PAP leader, you have no business being a trade union leader for workers.
