TransCab cabby takes family on wrong route, then shouts "Get out of my cab!"
A TransCab driver apparently took a family on the wrong route, but yelled at them to get out when they asked for a receipt.
STOMPer Jimmy told STOMP:
"My wife's sister, my wife and myself boarded a TransCab, license plate no. SHB9900M driven by a Mr. Goh from Vivocity taxi stand heading to Bukit Purmei Road, September 12 at about 10pm.
"The moment when we boarded the taxi, I told the driver to go to 'Bukit Purmei Road'.
"The driver drove off and did not ask anyone of us which route we preferred to take.
"Only when my wife saw the signboard 'Henderson Road' that she realised that he was heading for the wrong direction.
"Out of goodwill, my wife asked the driver politely if he had he taken the wrong route.
"He then shouted 'I only know this way'.
"We were all so puzzled. Then why didn't he asked us beforehand?
"All of us kept quiet and didnt want to argue with him since the taxi had already gone by the Henderson way.
"For your information, Vivocity is very near to Bukit Purmei Road, only 3 bus-stops away, and by foot, it takes less than 20 minutes to reach.
"We could have gone by the way leading to Mount Faber.
"Then the climax came! Upon reaching our destination, we requested for a receipt but instead of issuing us with one, he rudely and loudly shouted in English 'GET OUT OF MY CAB!' and in Hokkien he added and shouted at my wife 'Very Hao Lian', which means 'Very Proud'!
"The 3 of us were surprised. Worrying about my sister's safety as she is the last person to get out of the cab, we kept quiet and did not dare to comment much.
"Is this the way a taxi driver should treat the passengers? Is this the way the taxi companies train their drivers?
"Should the consumers be the pay-master and yet have to tolerate this kind of attitude?
"Taxi fares have increased time and again within the past few years but yet their services only came to deteriorate and never to be better?
"Is this going to encourage consumers to take more bus and MRT rides and discourage us from taking taxis? Or encourage us to buy our own cars? Trying putting yourself into our shoes, how would you feel?
"Moreover, this driver is not wearing a safety belt at the point when he is driving with passengers in his taxi.
"I called up TransCab immediately after I alighted from the taxi to highlight this matter to a customer service officer, by the name of Mr. Panpi.
"He said he will lodged a complaint the following day and get back to me ASAP but we only got a kind of reply after waiting for 11 days.
"Is this the way TransCab brushed off all complaints from consumers?"
