truth of the matter is,the thing is its not about police brutality or harrasement, the question is why are sinkies so sensitive and so afraid of judgemental people or being judged?clearly it cant be that one interrogation session alone drove the boy to suicide, clearly he was afraid of what others might think of him when he returned to school, the bullying and harrasement that will ensue.the fear and embarassment when he has to face his peers,we know the teenage adolescence years are the most sensitive and volatile periods, thats when we fear being accepted or rejected by our peers.are sinkies' ego and pride so easily hurt and smashed?its almost like they cant handle any form of criticism or attacks.everytime some foreigner attack us or insult us be it online or in the media, that is always a huge hullabaloo and uproar and demand for social justice until the person is hounded out of the country or out of existence.in other countries u dont see this kind of shit, especially in ang moh countries, people are more outspoken and confrontational, they joke, insult and talk shit all the time.either u fight back or u take it like a pussy, theres no such thing as so and so said shit about us,we demand the person be fired and expel from the country, somebody has to protect our ego and feelings,i dont care if its the police or authorities!!!!!sinkies are precious!!!
We have all been through these phases one point or another during our teenage years.
Its never easy and sometimes tough.
The is the period where our awareness is fast developing with no references as how to handle or manage them.
Emotional awareness, sexual awareness and social awareness are constantly building up in the minds.
We do not know the actual events that happened on the fateful day.
If the boy did molest the girl, where did he learn this behaviour from?
Surely at his age he should be quite aware of the opposite sex but where did he get the idea that molestation is a form of gratification from?
Are we as a commercialized society partly to be blame?
We create exciting movies laced with sexual scenes, even on TV shows, computer games, on-line porn sites...etc that are easily accessible to draw in the sales and money.
If the boy commits the offence he should be disciplined, punished appropriately and the most important of all is behaviourial correction, so that he understand the right and wrong of doing such thing.
He is after all still a young boy, at a stage where his faculty is still developing and not fully developed yet.
But was he given that chance to be corrected and set on the right path again?
Or was he man handled like a hardcored criminal and ostracized by the very school that he felt he belonged to?
Only Benjamin Lim himself would know.
