That;s why people lost money in those High Notes, Pinnacle Notes and Minibond nonsense. They simply trusted some random bank salesmen in a nice suit or the "brand name". Nothing has changed since then.

Most people are gullible. Thousands of municipalities in US and Europe were conned by the banks and have experienced billions in losses. Even the EU was conned by Italy which got its deficit reduced with the help of Goldman Sach so as to qualify for membership. The Greek did it with the help of JP Morgan. Lots of financial engineering but the truth emerged later.

A religion does not need to involve god or supernatural beings. When you believe in a value system or a set of laws, that is your religion. There is no such thing as knowing inherently what is right and what is wrong. You learn that from your environment starting from when you are an infant. Just because you feel lousy when you have been robbed does not mean robbery is wrong if the place you are in does not believe that it is wrong.

That is why PRC is such a crappy place because of the different value system although I would say that is constantly evolving.
