Tiger Airways Takes Off Empty Leaving Passengers Behind

MELBOURNE, Oct 26 (Bernama) -- Intending passengers were left angry after a Tiger Airways plane flew to Melbourne from Hobart without them after a flight attendant fell ill, the Australian Associated Press (AAP) reported.

The 140 passengers were left at Hobart airport last Friday night and many were stranded for three days while waiting for seats on the one-flight-a-day Tiger service to Melbourne.

The flight attendant at the centre of the incident was attended to by paramedics at the airport and later joined the empty flight back to Melbourne with other crew.

A Tiger spokeswoman told AAP that under air safety regulations planes must have a certain number of cabin crew before they could fly with passengers.

No replacement for the sick steward on Flight TT567 was available in Hobart.

The plane left Hobart for Melbourne without passengers because it had to service other routes the next day from 6am, the spokeswoman said.

Passengers who missed connecting interstate flights included an intending best man at a wedding and a man who had planned to welcome his daughter-in-law home from overseas.

Now back to Tiger.
Lately, I see advertisement blitz by AIRASIA & JETSTAR (both big budgets airlines) but not Tiger. WHY? No money in the kitty? Maybe they could save some money by culling the imcompetent diploma holder CEO, Mr Davis the Dumb.

A word of warning to all would be Tiger passenger. A Tiger's nature is to kill on sight. Normally they'll go for the neck, either suffocating the prey (victims) or breaking their necks. There you have it.

Its final beneficial owner is Temasek - 59%. When airlines fold, its makes news like nothing else unless you are in the US, where it is quite common.

Anymore failures and Ho Ching will look really dumb. SIA which has 49% of the 59% can't be bothered as they were forced into this marriage because someone wanted to be an International whiz in business and wanted to tie up with the Ryans. She will be hard pressed to explain why SIA is making profits while Tiger is a lost cause albeit a different operating model. The only way they can make profit is to lengthen the check in time and hope people will miss their flights. Absolute disgrace.

The CEO is also an idiot and they can't replace him because no one can be hired. Not only an idiot but a rude idiot as that. Every contact, he leavea a bitter taste. His concept of being a CEO is making hard decisions but whether it is sound or not is a different matter. In terms of reputation, it is the most disastrous service provider in any industry.

They are building the Aust arm with critical mass, so that a sucker can be found. I am sure their US and Irish partners can't wait to dump this on some aussie firm. Not only operations wise but the level of ticket fraud is so well known in the industry.

The whole thing is a mess. SIA does not want anything to do with it. One would have thought that if SIA had 49% stake, they could have had one of their 3rd rate managers seconded to it. Instead, Patrick Gan, 48 years of age from the Pharmceutical industry was appointed as the first CEO.

I suppose people taking medication tend to "fly" so they must have concluded that Patrick had the credentials. He resigned within a few months and Business Times claimed that he was fired for incompetence.

They then appointed Tony Davis aged 38. If you look at his resume, you would have thought that he served 50 years in the airline industry. Despite the young age, the guy does not even have a degree.

If you ever worked in the UK, OZ, you will come across some secretaries, general office stall having a degrees. Not Tony. I suppose they had not started a tertiary course on rudeness and poor human practices.

Reminds me of Nick Leeson, with "O" levels running Futures for the Queen' s Bank - Barings. Prior to posting to Singapore, he was filing clerk in their office in Jakarta. Only Asians can get taken for a ride like this.

That is why i do question the selection criteria for top positions. Why was Tiger's top job given to an angmo who has only a DIPLOMA? U mean our NUS/NTU degree holders will fare any worse than him?
And as we know it, more times than not, we have disgruntled passengers writing in the newspaper complaining about Tiger's poor service quality. And why wasnt any Tiger spokesperson take the stand & address the issue at hand?
And the best part, why are so many STUPID PEOPLE still insist on taking Tiger, knowing that Tiger has the WORST customer service support amongst all budget airlines.
And Im still waiting for Dumb Davis & his aide Rosalynn, to come & defend Tiger's apparent terrible service record.
