if singapore has considered itself to be a lst world country, then they should start behaving like one.

during my long stay in vancouver, every week there are days allocated specially for SENIOR CITIZENS. they have the special $1.99 buffet meals where old folks could spend practically the whole afternoon sipping tea, drinking kopi and munch on a wide spread.

then there are supermarts which offer authentic 1/2 price sales only to senior citizens during certain day of the week. ya, we have one here too fr NTUC but cunt only give a miserable 2% discount which is as good as not giving at all.

many may not know it but there is one hotel offering such concession to senior citizens. HOLIDAY INN HOTEL, the previous CONCORDE HOTEL at havelock rd is offering a special buffet lunch half of its usual price only to senior citizens on monday.

Saying that we will take care of our elders with all talks and no actions doesn't really mean anything. Even in communist china, elderly above age 65or so enjoy free travel on public bueses, heavily susidised entry to public and private entertainment places etc. There are also parks designed to cater to the needs of the elderly etc etc.

those are also direct concessions.

there is something very troubling here in singapore which many have overlooked.

the gov implemented compulsory CPF saving and yet some retirees are finding it difficult to make ends meedt. the gov on the other hand is like using this CPF as a reason to shirk off most of their responsibilities.

it seems that whatever "scheme" our gov can churn up, the retribulation at the end of the scheme is a REASON to cover themselves for not doing enough.

our gov appears to be shrewd businessman politicians milking the most out of the citizens.
