May 23, 2023, 7pm: Shanmugam told the media at Chong Pang that he has “nothing to hide”, calling the allegations "outrageous". He spoke with PM Lee and suggested for an independent review as "serious allegations have been made".

May 23, 2023, 5pm: PM Lee has asked Teo to conduct a review expeditiously. PM Lee also shared that Shanmugam and Vivian had spoken to him to request for a review independent of the ministries and agencies they supervise.

They should be able to call a press conference immediately to make things clear if nothing to hide, so no unnecessary speculation in the public
