The most overrated dishes..

hi there

1. call me some simpleton or what!
2. i love most & best: tau fu fa, a bowl of hot beancurd.
3. sheepishland ones are just no match to those in hk, soft & smooth!

I think caviar is like sharkfin and birdnest, not really overrated but really overhyped into luxury category.

there must be a reason why sharkfin , birdnest and caviar is a luxury food . those items is not like chicken meat where you can collect easy ..its a limited products .

What I know some hotels practice is the leftover meats from buffet will be used to cook fried rice or noodle dishes for the staff canteen the next day.
Which reminds me last time I was part timer working in restaurant, there was this dishwasher uncle who would eat whatever leftovers left on the dirty plates... gross everyone out that eventually he was sacked.

i believe some hotels do that for their staff canteen ..but not all .

what about wagyu meat, also known as 'kobe'-style beef ? is it overrated ? ;) i think the word overrated depends on individual .

bro , not mandarin ...its pan pacific . you work in mandarin hotel before?
Hehehe. Part-timer with the banquet dept. Usually weekends wedding dinner or some company functions during my secondary school days. :)

I don't know the exact history but guess yes, scarcity should have contributed to sense of luxury and upping prices.

Rojak, Mcdonald, KFC are all over-rated cheap dish but selling high prices.

Bro, where was this hotel located? Behind Orchard Towers? Funny, when I tried to recall its location, I suddenly recalled having collected their matchbox. Collecting these matchboxes similar to stamp collection in the late 60s. If I recall rightly, white in colour.
