Almost everything in Sillypore is imported and Indonesia is one of our great supplier for many years.

These are the companies that generate demand for oil palm. These companies only lip service to deforestation and contribute to this forest slashing and haze.

Yet, our govt still give tax tax advantages to operate their business in SG.

This is ridiculous.

Banned them! Boycott their goods. Spit at them. Protest outside their offices.

What should actually be done is Vivian calling up the Indon Ambassador and lodging a formal protest. Not a big issue as we can learn from many ASEAN counrtries who have recently stood up against China, etc...

Call an Urgent Cabinet Meeting and come out with a Single Voice. Take the haze as an Act of War.

Get the other "victim" Nations affected by the "dangerous chemicals hovering in the air" to give us their collective support.

Lodge a collective protest in the United Nations via World Health Organisation, etc....

Get the support of Big brother US to consider our situation similar to Syria and Iraq in the past. The haze should be considered as a Weapon of Mass Destruction.

US will help for we have been "extremely kind" to them in many areas.

If there is a need to invade Sumatra to save "humanity from extinction" please go ahead with a joint ASEAN Force comprising a flottila of ships and armada of planes.

The land forces can re-stage the Normandy-stle Landings on beaches and Chinnoks can bring the men into the interior.

Indonesian Navy, Air-force and Army is short of latest ships, aircrafts and weapons. It is also having a hard time in Irian Jaya and many other restive regions.

There must be someone like General MacArthur to spearhead such a campaign on the field and not someone doing it from the arm-chair or computer graphics.

The ASEAN Force will go in as liberators of the poor suffering masses and would surely be garlanded. The whole World will applaud our collective action.

This will also put China in fear and bring the perpetrators to their knees.

Lives of the suffering Sumatrans, Malaysians, Singaporeans would be saved along with that of other Nations affected.

What we are doing now is reminiscent of PM Gladstone telling his English countrymen to "go home and sleep". The next day the Invasion of England by Germany began....

In a strongly worded Facebook posting, MP for Tampines GRC Irene Ng took issue with the Indonesian government for trying to shift the blame for the haze to other countries.

On Monday, an Indonesian forestry ministry official said Singaporean and Malaysian palm oil companies in Indonesia were also responsible for the haze.

Ms Ng said: "Indonesia is being quite disingenuous to try to shift the blame for the haze to other countries like Singapore and Malaysia. It is up to Indonesia to prosecute commercial companies, regardless of ownership."

She added: "All ASEAN countries, including Indonesia, already have domestic legislation which prohibits the use of fire for forest clearance in their own countries. The local authorities must enforce it.

"There are currently no legal sanctions which Singapore can apply against plantation companies whose extra-territorial actions affect our local environment."

She said Singaporeans could apply commercial pressure by boycotting products from these companies and to demand for products that come from sustainable sources.

Boycott what products? She should be specific and if the govt is serious, no need to push the responsibility to Singaporeans to boycott, the govt should lead like Taiwan govt boycott tours from Taiwan to Philipines, boycott maids etc.
