The inside on LTA Train Debacle Cover-up

It was common for the PAP to push jobs that Sporeans should aim for e.g. engineering, hotel management, computer science, .... . Unfortunately each year the recommended jobs kept changing & it takes about 4 years to get a degree. One MP even talked about degrees expiring & people should go back to renew one's degree:rolleyes:

Now they are still talking about changing skills. However at the lower levels e.g. cooking, factory skills, learning Excel,...
Why? People who have the required degrees can look at emigrating & moving out of Spore.

Toilet paper is does not mean training. It is that shit kind of thinking by people who cannot think but in positions of leadership that create the fake myanmar doctors, fake indian financial experts, fake developer and engineer problem. SMRT debacle is only one of many. All mechanical and electrical projects here are seriously plagued with substandard quality. So is our software development. I am not saying that such does not occur in the howlian German and Japanese outfits. However, you need to know how far you can cheat if you need to cheat and how not to easily get caught. Ours is like an open book, only protected by a blow smoke with fake law Leestablishment. It does not work for the buildings will collapse, the sewage pipes will fail, the mrt lines will breakdown catastrophically, the airport facilities will soon show the word danger worldclass-wise, our software infrastructure infiltrated even by lower level hackers, financially disastrous investments that make minibond lok like macchiam mai hum.

If you are a programmer, you need to go through many rounds of problem definition and analysis, thinking, coding, consider scalability, performance and security issues. Copy code snippets only work for really really straight forward stuffs. There is a lot of tailoring to consider. It translates in to time spent by end user, flexibility and also upgrade of functions as users become clearer on what they really want after they are able to see what they could not before on a quick and timely basis. For engineers, drawing architectural drawings of beams only in grid structure is only 101 course work. But our senior engineers talk back and can only design that standard, which many programs can draw better and faster than them after factoring pitching.

This reminds me of the Bendy Bus fiasco.. U remember the two carriage bus joined together by some connector. Well u don't see them on the roads no more!

they ran out of cable ties from mustaffa?

I did not realise that this joker was an Admiral. Clearly a round peg in a square hole. We send an army general to rescue NOL and we send an Admiral to buy trains. Its like asking a Mat to cook fried Hokkein Mee on the basis that he too is a chef.

Damned it.

When is the government and Singaporeans (through voting at the General Elections) going to learn that regardless how smart, and/or how good and effective is an SAFOS (and LG, MG, BG or Rear Adminral) is, they will not be a competent and effective entrepreneur, or CEO, or executive in an actual business environment.

Please stop this continuing transfer of SAFOS to business enterprises, civil service, Statutory Boards, Ministries, and government affiliated agencies, except for the odd competent individuals.

This is where the electorate in NZ is wiser than the sinkie electorate. They know that an opposition presence is required in Parliament to ask the hard questions about these sorts of issues.

Chee was the ideal candidate for this role with nothing to lose. Instead the electorate concentrated on trivial issues like covered walkways and upgrading budgets and returned a lame duck Pappy who asks no questions and votes according to the party whip.

It's really sad to see a country screw itself year in year out.

The electorate in Singapore has had more than one opportunity to vote for non-PAP candidates so that he or she can ask the necessary and appropriate "hard questions",
but sadly, the electorate did not.

It looks like this the beginning of the potential end.

Nice story, but quite a lot of salt and pepper were added.

In the same order, the earlier ones are LTA assets and the later ones are SMRT assets. The majority of those which had inferior quality were LTA assets. That's why SMRT said 2023 and LTA said 2019. They are being sent back one by one for refitting once about every 4 months, hence the drop in service level would not be obvious. The first train was already sent back in 2014.

What nonsense are you talking about? The majority of sinkies trust PAP to "ownself check ownself". We don't need useless oppositions to spill their salivas in the imperial court. Look at how caring the PAP is. They returned the faulty trains on schedule and didn't kill a single sinkie. They even wrapped up the trains nicely so that sinkies won't go into panic mode. Everything is done for the general good of the average sinkie. The majority of sinkies are happily serving out their conscription duties and grateful for having scholar generals and rear admirals lord over them for life. Obviously, a stupid foreigner like you can't understand the joys of being a sinkie.

In the same order for those trains, the earlier ones belong to LTA and the later ones belong to SMRT. That's what SMRT HOT meant when he put it at 2023, while LTA put it at 2019.

The first trains were sent back in 2014, with one train being rotated out of service for this exercise about once every 4 months. This reduces the disruption to train service levels. The port-to-port journey takes 10 days btw.

They are still running around. The body is done by Spanish firm Hispano and the chassis is from Mercedes-Benz from Germany. It's the design of the air-con (key node near the turntable reduces effectiveness) and the heat insulation that leaves a lot to be desired.

Some one must have pocket the money.
How can accept the defect train in the beginning.
Just return the whole train. Safety is the most important.
And get back all they money.
Then Find other contractor. That all.
Better late than accident happen.
Safety 1st and that is the only priority.

You who suggested that Sinkies emigrate to foreign lands: have you heeded your own advice?

My wife and I have and this year's 4th of July was my first as an American. I strongly recommend you to come to the USA where you can still live the American dream.

If I was still young & working, I would probably choose Canada or Australia. Have many friends & relatives in these countries. I'm familiar with Canada because I've studied & worked there.

I'm getting a passive income from my investments to live comfortably in Spore but with the high inflation & deteriorating quality of live, I'm looking at moving out of Spore. Maybe even adopt a gypsy lifestyle living a few months here, a few months there, when the weather gets too hot:)

Unfortunately I'm too old now & it would be difficult for to qualify for emigration to Canada or Australia. Tax wise I would also probably take a hit. So I am looking at places like Thailand, Malaysia, Indonesia...

SMRT still uses these bendy buses. It's actually amazing that they are still using these "old" buses. They have probably lasted all these years because they were built in Europe to European standards.

You seem to know what is going on inside. Could you throw more light. LTA owns the rolling stock and all orders are placed by them and not SMRT - correct. There are 6 trains in Jurong Port awaiting shipment. Are they referring to a train-set then.

C151B was for the same train line and placed in late 2012 for the exact same number - 22 and within 18 mths of receiving the first trains from C151A. No other LTA exercise has this for any of the train lines. LTA practices is procure based on lines e.g. NEL etc.

Hairline cracks on aluminium body tends to travel very quickly even when minor load stress is applied. The short term fix is drill holes at the end of crack to stop the crack getting worse. Is this what has been going on.

LTA late yesterday corrected the original claim of 2019 and that it will be 2023 for the last train to be fixed and in line with what SMRT said.

Feel free to correct any errors?

The scheme was started with the first son to create gravitas to facilitate his entry into political leadership. They will not knock it until he leaves. Since none of the grandsons are bothered with the SAF, it will die an eventual death. The Admin Service will then form the core of the Mandarins. It however requires PSC to take back central control which they gave up some 15 year ago but introducing the Service Scheme and their own promotion boards for senior levels.

Papa forestalled the likelihood of a bloody coup
by putting millitary top brass into the crew
no porn, overtime, first matey as well as kee chiu
plus others in the GLCs just to name a few

Teehee... What happens if there's a coup?

I suggest that this issue is sufficiently important for the WP to raise in Parliament.

Maybe request for the globe touring (33 and 1/3) President to conduct a Commission of Inquiry to investigate and report on the whole matter!

a gud oppo shud make helluva noise ...

Gutless & spineless Bukit Batok residents had a chance to do so during last BE. Now they can continue to get MRT breakdowns.

Leon Perera has already highlighted that this whole thing requires an explanation. So I would expect this to be raised in parliament.
