The inside on LTA Train Debacle Cover-up

Fucking SMRT are the biggest suckers in the world. always getting conned. Shit lah, everyone know you can build a brand new carriage in less then a year. 3-7 years is the manufacturer telling you "Fuck off, you damn lucky we decide to take it back. You will get your fucking trains back when we have the time to fix them and when we are well and truly ready". Only SMRT willing to sit there and nod their heads and say "3-7 years ok. No problem".

Before reading about the news on the returned coaches by "SMaRT"....so happened I watched a documentary on BBC Earth, about the manufacturing of train coaches....the same ones we travel in on our MRT...ALSTOM. They were making coaches for the NY subway etc..with plants in Brazil too & was talking about QC etc..how strict they are etc...& the safety quality of the coaches & the strict standards of the buyer..

Wonder, how many fingers were 'greased' on these China coaches....made by our dear comrades.....:rolleyes:
 
I did not realise that this joker was an Admiral. Clearly a round peg in a square hole. We send an army general to rescue NOL and we send an Admiral to buy trains. Its like asking a Mat to cook fried Hokkein Mee on the basis that he too is a chef.

You forgot to mention one very important fact. The one doing the ordering and owning of this shit useless trains, the LTA, has Chew Men Leong as its CEO. Chew is another SAF Scholar and former Rear Admiral. Yet another evidence that PAP scheme of scholar SAF generals and admirals DO NOT FUCKING WORK. An admiral knows shit all about land transportation and mass transit moving millions of peoplle effectively.
 
This is where the electorate in NZ is wiser than the sinkie electorate. They know that an opposition presence is required in Parliament to ask the hard questions about these sorts of issues.

Chee was the ideal candidate for this role with nothing to lose. Instead the electorate concentrated on trivial issues like covered walkways and upgrading budgets and returned a lame duck Pappy who asks no questions and votes according to the party whip.

It's really sad to see a country screw itself year in year out.
 
Just an update from the same source.

The defective batch of 22 trains were awarded to the same consortium for $368m under contract 151A. This was in 2009. They were delivered in 2011 May onwards until 2012. The defects were already identified in 2011. The replacement order for another 22 trains were done in 2012 for $281m. This was done under contract 151B. Firstly note that price is substantially lower then the same number of trains after 5 years indicating an clear anomaly. I am also told that no press release was made for this replacement contract. The train delivery occurred in 2015 and 2016. Once they became operational, they could then send back the defective trains. In the meantime, we have riding these trains for the last 4 years or so. The only mitigating factor was the monthly inspection done by Kawasaki for the last 4 years for each train.

Should not Kawasaki replaced all 22 for free? Why did we pay an unnecessary $281m?
 
Not my money, and win win situation for all parties. Cannot imagine manufacturer bankrupt and nobody able to service the faulty train.

The leak interestingly came from the executives from the Chinese company who apparently never had trains returned from another country and treated the event with great novelty.

No. The workers did not realise that their product was that bad it had to be returned. They must wondering why it took 4 to 5 years to return the trains. Only the Chinese owners and senior people in the factory knew they were caught out. One interesting excuse was that there were impurities in the metal that was not detected when it formed and shaped. More like they used cheap and contaminated ore and painted the formed metal over it. The load and the stress could not be handed.

Sadly true. Greed and anxiety has engulfed the country since the 80's. Nobody wants to produce anything. All professional services, commission work, trading or bureaucratic shenanigans. When will civil servants realize that they don't produce wealth. They only make it possible for other people to do so. Or stop them from doing so.

It was common for the PAP to push jobs that Sporeans should aim for e.g. engineering, hotel management, computer science, .... . Unfortunately each year the recommended jobs kept changing & it takes about 4 years to get a degree. One MP even talked about degrees expiring & people should go back to renew one's degree:rolleyes:

Now they are still talking about changing skills. However at the lower levels e.g. cooking, factory skills, learning Excel,...
Why? People who have the required degrees can look at emigrating & moving out of Spore.

And he is the wrong guy for the job. He is making more mess. Our scholars are mostly incompetent and Desmond is the mother of them all. What has he accomplished since coming on board? Making promises that is ludicrous - he needs 7 years to fix the current problems. Goodness, he needs that long and then he needs another 7 years to fix new problems?
Meanwhile, his pay doubled to $2 million.

$281 million paid out as commission to certain people. These people failed to preserve Kawasaki's profit.

Please consider organizing your posts of this thread into one coherent whole and then disseminate it to various blogs and socio-political websites.

Please don't get your hopes up. 69.9% of your compatriots will still vote the PAP and accept whatever shit is fed to them. No heads will roll either at the LTA or Ministry of Transport. On the contrary the people responsible for the debacle and eventual cover-up will still receive their obscene bonuses at the expense of Sinkie taxpayers.

My wife and I have and this year's 4th of July was my first as an American. I strongly recommend you to come to the USA where you can still live the American dream.
