The Bitter Truth about the FT policy

Yes ... that is absolutely correct.

I wrote clearly that there is NO solution to the problem. The economic restructuring will proceed and we can expect wages to stagnate and slide. The only thing that can be done are policies to mitigate the pain of the economic adjustment.

The recent PAP policies have made the problem much worse and Singapore can expect difficult days ahead. By now, everyone should know that unless you are PAP Minister with performance bonus pegged to GDP, those imigation inflated double digit GDP growth numbers have very little correlation to the standard of living for the average Singaporean.

I have told you simply that other developed countries do not face wage freezes or decline in real or gross wages unlike Singapore. Singapore has these problems because the PAP opened the doors to these lower salaried FTs and even high salaried FTs. Both categories of jobs can suitably be performed by Singaporeans except construction and cleaning.

Remove the PAP and many problems will be solved. These large number of FTs have made our MRT unbearable and now we have to spend $60billion to construct additional lanes for our MRT system.

The dumb PAPies import this problem and now we have to spend so much to accommodate the FTs. Without the FTs the existing MRT did it's job rather well and there were few complaints.

Do you now see the idiocy of the PAPies? Do you now understand why other developed nations do not fall for cheap foreign labour like the PAPies? We have a pathetic team of PAPies in the government who will continue to ruin this country.

We have to vote them out.

Sorry but these seem to be very feeble reasons for why the F&B industry is a strategic industry in Singapore. The large number of eateries in Singapore and the ever increasing rentals suggest that despite the high attrition rate, it is a very lucrative business in Singapore. Unfortunately the large profits are earned by exploting foreign workers who are expected to work in conditions similar to the turn of the century slave labour.

Every industry has their respective attrition rates. These attrition rates have a strong correlation to profits. Silverfox, you aim high, you also have a higher chance of failing. To blame the problems of the F&B industry at Singaporeans is a poor stab at your own kind.

F&B business in any country is a tough challenge and the problems doesn't only exist in Singapore. Even if rentals were inexpensive, you would still have to compete in terms of pricing and quality of food with your competitors.

Let's be realistic here. Singapore is NOT New York. We are also NOT Silicon Vally, NOT London and NOT even Shanghai.

it is only PAP Ministers with delusions of grandeur who think we are some sort of mighty global player. This thinking has infected many Singaporeans into thinking that somehow Sinaporeans are special and deserve to be forever richer/better than people from India, China etc.
Indeed we are not any of those cities but amongst most of our neighbours in Asia, we are a developed country that can offer much higher wages than they can earn in their homeland.

The reality is that we are a small city of no great global consequence. In the past, we thrived because of a set of unique geopolitical, economic circumstances. Those circumstances no longer exist. Instead we now have a new set of circumstances that are hostile to our continued prosperity. Adding to that is that we have had a weak government for the past 10 years who has made many policy errors which have compounded our problems.

Since Raffles founded Singapore and built a port here Singapore has been and still is a magnet for shipping trade due to our strategic geographical location. Just look at the world map and realize that trade from east to west and even asia and the pacific has to pass through Singapore.

You are either a young man or you have forgotten that in our schools we were taught that our geographical location was our most important natural resource.

The one ray of hope is that in the past, the PAP had used repressive tactics to silence crtics and stay in power. For this election, there seem to be hints that dirty tactics will not be used and that it will be a relatively fair election. The PAP has also indirectly admitted to some of the mistakes and appear prepared to take the bitter medicine to correct these mistakes.

These are mother hen statements with nothing to back them up. Just look at how active the MDA has been recently to stifle alternative democratic views. You have fallen for their election talk. Don't you know that they will always backtrack and the 154th will make no mention of the broken promises?

The FTs will continue to be brought in because it serves the PAPies well. More jobs will be lost. HDB prices will continue to rise. Transportation will have increasing problems. Healthcare, as bad as it is now will get worse. Education will continue its ridiculous effort to churn out robots and for places of education to be used to inculcate PAP party values and propaganda. The media will continue to sing praises and be unobjective in their views.

Nothing good can come from the PAP.

There are 2 sides to a coin. It's true that many locals are shun because of hiring PRCs & Indians. But its also true that there are many jobs that locals do not want to take up due to the nature of the job.

You stupidfuck traitor. The fact remains that for a few hundred dollars a month in salary, Sinkies might as well be begging in the streets.

Which first world country brings in massive numbers of cheap labour all year round and provide them with accommodation and transport?

If the PAP wants to do that, then they should ensure that the costs in Sinkieland reflect the third world conditions Sinkies are living in. If they can't do that, they should give up their million dollar salaries.

In developed countries, due to restrictions on such cheap imports, the jobs have been redesigned to make them easier using machines. This in turn raises the productivity as one worker can do more and hence, justifies the higher pay.

By parroting the official line of Sinkies don't want to do certain jobs, you are just a stupidfuck moron. If you pay those cheap labour about the same rates as what they get in their countries, do you think they are willing to take up these jobs? You sure are a stupidfuck. :oIo:

We all want to put food on the table but the PAP has become too greedy, they are only interestede in becoming millionaires

It is interesting that in Malaysia the small businesses is thriving whereas in Spore we have "problems. Having talked spoken to some taxi drivers in KL, who have worked as ex-sbs bus drivers, they tell me it is better to be a taxi driver in KL than to drive in Spore

I still remember the old days when Spore's small businesses thrived. I bet if we take the PAP out of the equation many small businesses will thrive, but Sporeans are too selfish to think of the future. They will only act if they are personally be affected directly before they decide to act against the PAP. So we have the current sad state of affairs :(

Developed countries require a large number of SMEs and even more small businesses. In Singapore, the PAPies long arms reach out to so many businesses that true entrepreneurship is stiffled.

Singaporeans have been forced to behave like this due to PAP propaganda and policies. Singaporeans worry everyday if they will lose their jobs or have to live with a lower salary. And this prevents them from thinking too far ahead.

Without the PAP, life would be many times better.
