Teen who tried to rob taxi driver gets probation

A teenage girl who tried to rob a female taxi driver in June was sentenced to 18 months' probation on Wednesday.
Yeo Yoke Chang, 19, who had admitted to the offence last month, has been suffering from obsessive compulsive disorder since 2007. She also has gender identity disorder.
A Community Court heard that the victim, Ms Teo Hong Lang, 55, picked up Yeo near Edgefield Plains on June 4.
As the victim was travelling along Rivervale Drive, Yeo placed a Swiss army knife at the victim's neck and asked if she wanted money or her life.
