Teacher in Facebook case files report

FURIOUS that his Facebook account had been hacked and allegations made on the social media website that he had molested his students, a teacher in Ipoh has filed a police report and lodged a complaint with the Malaysian Communication and Multimedia Commission (MCMC).

Harian Metro
quoted Lim Beng Lee, 42, who teaches at SM Poi Lam (Suwa), as saying the defamation against him had tarnished his reputation.
“I became aware that my account had been hacked into on Nov 28, when I failed to enter into the account because the culprit had changed the password.

“I then entered into another Facebook account to view the account that was hacked. I was shocked to read the defamatory comments. “I admit that I had made a mistake in not logging out, which enabled the hacker to enter,” he said.

The allegations first appeared in a Chinese daily last week, and it has since corrected the report. The paper said some schoolgirls claimed the teacher had groped their buttocks or breasts, purportedly to give them a massage.

One of the boys also claimed the teacher grabbed his private parts. Suwa principal, Leon Pin Chow, 54, said the allegations had marred the school’s image but the school is backing the teacher all the way.

About 30 people – comprising students and parents – gathered at the school on Wednesday to seek clarification on the issue. Convinced there was no truth in the allegations, they pledged their support for Lim.
