Someone sent a warning to me that I may be a risk of being sued for defamation - because I organise a petition to ask the Government, especially the Commercial Affairs Department, to conduct an investigation into the credit linked securities.

He reasoned that this petition implies that there were wrong doing by the parties involved in the credit linked securities, and they may consider that I have defamed them.

I rejected this reasoning. But a few other people seem to think that this is a possibility and advised me to "be careful".

This reflects a very sad state of affairs in Singapore. There is a climate of fear, even of speaking out against injustice and wrong doing. It is so easy for big business and powerful people to intimidate the weak with the threat of lawsuit.

First of all, I must commend Mr Tan Kin Lian in stepping out to organise a petition to the relevant authorities in helping those who lost their money in the DBS hi-note saga.

Regardless some may think or say he has an agenda or whatsoever, we should not bother about this.

However, I find it very distasteful that at 9.22pm, he wrote in his blog that he was warned he will be sued. Seriously, I don't see as to why he should post it in his blog at this point of time. Because by writing this in his blog,

It just shows that he is not very intelligent to handle the situation if it gets complicated. The above statement is trying to insinuate it is easy for big business and powerful people to intimidate the weak. Who is he referring to? This kind of comment is really uncalled.

The task on hand he should do since he started, is to organise the petition which he already did and follow up from there. Not to side step with another side show showing that someone warned him he could be sued.

I seriously advise him in future, it would be better for him to consult his lawyer on all issues regarding this matter and when he post comments in his blog, he has to be responsible for what he post. If not, even if no one is intending to sue him, he is inviting people to do that instead

Anything wrong asking CAD to investigate any suspected wrong-doing?
If a petition gathers momentum, then it means there is something there.

If the petition is stopped by hatchet men, then more so, suspicions are raised.

When JBJ made a police report against LKY during one of the General Elections, he was sued for defamation. LKY claimed tat making a police report and informing the audience at the rally is a "nuanced" attempt at defaming him. We all know the court's verdict.

This time Tan Kin Lian made a petition. The group of people who may have something to do with the credit-linked securities may claim to have been defamed by the petition. Obviously this group of people must be tightly linked with the PAP government.

This same type of mentality is no different from the Ah Bengs who whack you if you accidentally look in their direction. As long as you suggest that something may not be right about decisions made by some people in government and ask that someone look into it, whoaaaa, you are trying to defame them! Personal reason:
Can't stand his f88ked face when he keeps raising his eyebrows constantly. Years ago, when he was a lapdog of Prata Nathan and PAPzis, he went to almost every governmental celebrations. When Prata Nathan was talking to me in halting pace (as if he was running out of breath and collapsing any moment), that lapdog put in a few words and raising his eyebrows constantly. At that moment, I wanted to slap him for 2 reasons !! 1 is for interrupting my banter with Prata Nathan -f88king rude !! 2 is for that irritation of raising his eyebrows every now and then.

Fact:
He was a lapdog of PAP. When he was in favor, he side stepped everybody !! For good riddance to bad thrash, he was asked to step down. Now, out of favor, he still wants to prove that he is still potent !! Tell me, how could an eunuch be potent ? He could try..... I am not sure if I was an aspiring lapdog..... I left the kennel after 19 months of my voluntary service.

When you go to see your MP, there are those buggers that help you to take your "statement", write appeal letters, and the MP just put their signature on it. I was one of those buggers.
