<!-- START OF : div id="storytext"--><!-- more than 4 paragraphs -->DEAR Minister Mentor Lee Kuan Yew, may I wish you a blessed 85th birthday today. I thank you for your love and commitment to Singapore. Singapore's success and progress have been made possible because of your great vision and leadership. I was touched when I read the report last Wednesday: 'MM: Political system has to evolve'. In particular, I was moved by this part of the report: 'Minister Mentor Lee Kuan Yew, who is turning 85, says he will fortify Singapore's future as long as he can.
'In an e-mail response to questions from The Straits Times ahead of his birthday on Tuesday, he adhered to his life-long focus on Singapore's well-being when asked what ranked as most important items at his age. 'As long as I am fit and alert, I will help consolidate Singapore's future,' he replied.'
You have already done much for Singapore. At 85, you could have taken things easy, sat back and enjoyed the fruits of your labour. But you have chosen to help, fortify and consolidate Singapore's future.
It is the true Singapore spirit of sacrificial love, passion and commitment to our destiny as a blessed nation.
I thank God for you and our leaders, not forgetting Mrs Lee.
I pray that she will have peace and joy, despite her health.
Tan Hui Sin (Madam)
